  • This year I bought a Bill Monroe print produced by Hatch Show Print in Nashville. It was signed by Bill and the publisher. These things have a $600 price unsigned. I placed a bid and won the auction for a little over $70. The guy was obviously disappointed about the price but was very gracious through the process. I have never refused to honor an auction after a disappointing sell but I learned a lot through the experience.
  • I had a great transaction with Ron Burgundy on the BST board. Too bad that may be the last one. Merry Xmas everyone...........

I was the high bidder in an auction for a PSA 9 '89 Donruss Griffey rookie. The listing ending around $5 or something. I didn't receive the card for a little while, but I wasn't too concerned considering how easy they are to obtain. The seller had a family member who was hospitalized and he didn't have time to attend to his day-to-day matters. When he sent the card, he sent an second one with it because he felt badly for the delay. I thought it was a very nice gesture on his part. I gave it to my friend who drove up to Toronto with me to see the Jays play the Mariners toward the end of the season.

It so that would be Ron's choice and likely a loss to us. Regardless what some of you might think, I have no problem with Ron and I did once buy a large lot from him with great results. In fact, it was like $120 for a bunch of half graded and half raw cards. I remember one was a PSA 9 1975 Topps Yankee card I ebayed for $50 and another a 1987 Fleer PSA 10 I got $40 for. Then several 83 key rcs and HOF from the period along with a lot of 1981 Topps graded. It was likely one of my better deals here since the sale of the two cards paid like 80% of it. I even mentioned this once (but not my profit of course) here in the forums when Ron was being attacked like 8-9 months ago for overgrading cards.

However, I do believe it is possible for Ron to follow a rule here that is part of EVERY sport card forum I know of. And I challenge anyone to show me a major sport card forum without this rule. I know Beckett does. SCF does. SCG site does. Honestly, every forum I have been part of has the one thread at a time rule or harsher rules. Many of the scientific forums I am part of have no ad rules or one a week/month.

Rules of forums we visit should be treated like rules to houses we visit. If a person ask you to take your shoes off at the door....you should. Or at least, that is the way I was taught.

I also still think it was likely the moderator on his own that deleted it. This is because, the only postings I have ever seen by supermoderator or whatever his name is, is on this subject. He also only has only tacked thread in that forum...once again, on this subject. The only actions I have ever seen by him, is again on this subject.

Now hopefully, we can move on. Agree to disagree or something. I think Ron should follow forum rules....many of you don't. I get that. Let's move on. I think we should let Randy back and let him not have to follow the rules (and yes, I am serious here). It's not my choice, not my doing, I have no power here.

trust me you are making a positive thread to all the "newbies", it seams to be a pattern i can only wish to have seen before i went streaching my neck out for someone just to fit in to a group, taking advantage of a "newbie" is not cool, and you know who you are,, bj
