What game do you wish you had a video tape of?

Here's mine:

1984 Bears vs Vikings

This was one of the worst a$$kickings I have ever seen. The Bears D knocked out Tommy Kramer, then Wade Wilson, when it was Archie Mannings turn you could see he didn't want to go out there.

If anyone has a tape of this game let me know if I can get a copy.

Some of the Broncos games with Elway and some Dolphins games with Marino. I do have a few that I taped myself over the years. I can't think of any specific games off the top of my head though. If anyone has any please let me know as well.

I'd absolutely love to find a videotape of the 1963 AFL Championship game between the Chargers and Patriots.

The Chargers won 51-10 behind 206 yards and 1 TD rushing (on only 13 carries), and another 123 yards (on 7 catches) and a TD receiving by Keith Lincoln!

Paul Lowe had 12 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown, Lance Alworth had 4 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown, Tobin Rote was 10 of 15 for 173 yards passing with 2 touchdowns, and John Hadl was 7 of 11 for 132 yards and a touchdown!

  • That double-OT Chargers/Dolphins playoff game in 1985 (?) that the Chargers won something like 41-38.... the one where Kellen Winslow Sr. had to be basically carried off the field after it was over with heat stroke or something. That game had it all. I think the 'fins even successfully pulled off a hook-and-lateral for a TD.

The Gonzaga/Michigan State game from 4-5 years ago with Adam Morrison and Gonzaga and Maurice Ager from Michigan State. Both teams shot 90% from the field for the second half and both overtimes. Was the best basketball game I ever saw.

I would have to go with the 1993 playoff game between the Giants and the Cowboys. It was the game Emmitt separated his shoulder but played on regardless. He finished with 168 yds rushing on 32 attempts. 113 yards coming after the injury.

The cowboys went on to win the game 16-13 in OT.

How about a Koufax perfect game from 1965 season (I think)? They say the last three innings he through nothing but fastballs, and no one stood a chance. If my memory serves me correctly, he struck out the side in the last three innings.

Or, how about Chamberlain's 100-point NBA game in 1962?

Or, the last day of the 1986 Masters golf tournament where Jack Nicklaus, at age 46, played one of the greatest rounds of golf in history?

  • It's not a classic but I would love to have the full game when McGwire broke the HR record.

I remember peering out of the door (I was a young one) watching it on TV and the moment he hit that HR, and the festivities that followed will always be a great sports moment.

Actually he struck out the last batter in the 6th , the first batter in the 7th , the next two flew out , then Koufax struck out the last 6 batters of the game.

You should note the NFL sold games are edited so that you only see the what happens while the clock is moving...for the most part. Very little...almost none of the sideline or between play stuff. You could likely find bootlegs on the net with everything....but quality is always a question....and there is a the bootleg factor. Anyway, good luck finding them. I will however suggest if you find one at Best Buy, not to do the Super Bowl shuffle while in the checkout line.

I would love to have full footage games of the 30's/40's Bears/Redskins games to see Baugh, Luckman, Grange, Nagurski etc in action....but I would love to see the 1950 opening day game between the 1949 NFL champion Eagles and the 1949 AAFC Champion Browns....Browns were supposed to be slaughtered coming from the "inferior" league. The Browns rocked the football world that day!
  • i wouldn't mind owning the 1919 world series, or perhaps a game with Ty Cobb at his most raw evil!!! would be fun to watch the 1979 Tigers/Sox game with the Disco Demolition afterward. it was broadcast!! The Larsen perfect game has just been released, so i can scratch that off the list...

    Matt,
I think I may have this game on VHS tape. I have most of early 90's big games of the Cowboys taped. I will have to dig it out of storage. If I have it, I will make you a copy and send it out to you as a BIG thank you for organizing the Secret Santa exchange. PM me your address.

August 14, 1992 - Brewers vs Red Sox at old Milwaukee County Stadium. Jim Gantner hit the game winning homer in the bottom of the 13th. I still remember Bob Uecker's call......

"hit's one to right and deep...get up, get up, get outta here...GONE...a dinger for klinger and this game is over! Whoa Jimmy Gantner!"

Gantner only had 47 career homeruns. I don't recall all of them, but this is the only walk off shot that I'm aware of. image

I obtained a bootleg copy of this game and I have to apologize to Archie Manning. Tommy Kramer was inactive for the game and Archie Manning started the game.
The Bears had 11 sacks that game and Archie took all 11 of them. A very courageous effort even though he didn't have a chance. Wade Wilson came in to mop up after Manning was knocked out by a vicious hit by Otis Wilson. I guess my memory is a little fuzzy 25 years later.
  • It would be pretty cool if decent video of the Called Shot game surfaced--I realize there is some footage, but it's about as clear as the Bigfoot tapes--so we could know once and for all if the Babe really did it.
