Does anyone have a Babe Ruth signature?

Just curious if there is any desirability of one sig over the other...either

Babe Ruth
or
G H Ruth

any thoughts, comments?

Do they typically sell for the same amount and have the same desirability?

Babe Ruth is more desirable by far.......

GH Ruth is usually found on a personal check.

I'd agree that "Babe" is much more desirable.
  • Hey hofautos! It's nice to finally see a "face" I recognize over here.
  • I'd be happy with either one in my collection.

So you like that POS confirmed shill bidder? That explains so much to me now.

How about posting links to your comments on other forums about the CU?

It wasn't a shill, it was a safety bid. Please learn the difference.

A train wreck thread on Christmas Day is what I have been asking for for the last 4 years. image
  • I would want a G H Ruth over a "Babe" Ruth, preferably on a nice signed check.

Generally a "Babe" Ruth will sell for more than a Babe Ruth. A GH Ruth signed ball or bat might potentially sell for a bit more, since GH Ruth was usually reserved for documents, checks, and other types of flats.

I have a "Babe" Ruth and a Babe Ruth, and if I were looking for more would seek out the " version when possible.

    Hi AJ,

    Just curious ....

Did you purchase your "To Jimmy DiBetta" Ruth photo from Heritage Auctions?

I knew a Jimmy DiBetta years ago that had a huge Ruth collection; has to be the same Jimmy!

Where did you get the Ruth ball if I may ask? I'm wondering if Jimmy sold off his entire collection.

    Very interesting,
    PoppaJ

Edited to remove the link to Heritage Auctions as per AnkurJ's request.

    Hi,
Yes it was from Heritage a few years ago. Must be the same person! The baseball I purchased from a dealer.

I prefer Babe to G H as well. That's how he's known. No idea on pricing though. Here's a scan of my card:

    I'd prefer "Babe" Ruth myself.

That is one thing that I would love to own (a Babe Ruth autograph). I would love to have a card, photo, or a ball signed. What would a lower condition go for? I have my Pujols gloves (avatar), and I will never get rid of them unless I could use them to acquire a Babe Ruth signature. I feel like I can get $1,500++ for the Pujols gloves. How much would I need to come up with above that?

The least expensive good quality sigs are on paPer or a photo and start at around $4k.

does it seem a little sick that Babe Ruth's signature is worth less than 3 Pujols?

Actually, my gloves have 3 signatures (one on each glove, and one on the COA from the Pujols Family Foundation), so that would be a total of 9 signatures. If this were an apples to apples comparison, the values would not even be close. My gloves are game used from his record breaking month of April 2006. Can you imagine how much an autographed, game used glove from Babe Ruth would be worth? Six figures? Probably.
