What did you get for Christmas?

I'm starting this now to get a head start on tomorrow.

Post picks of what your friends / loved ones gave you for Christmas.

Post anything you recieved, even if it isn't sports related.

Comments

  • I know I'm getting a Platinum PSA grading package.
  • The only thing I'll be getting is my secret santa gift....Which I'm ecstatic to open!

Parents are going through a hard time so I told them I don't need anything.

Friends are all in the same boat.

But my sister did give birth to my 3rd niece the other day so that is the best gift of all! image

And I plan on treating myself to a Campanella signed ball I've been eying for quite sometime!
  • Nothing really here either, my brothers and sister have had a hard year so I just told my parents to focus more on them and their children. My wife and I opted not to do anything for each other and did a local adopt-a-family for Christmas program instead. But I will have loads of food tomorrow, some good movies to watch and the potential for some snow so it will be a great Christmas.
  • It's none of your business what my wife gives me for Christmas.

My wife was T-boned by a young driver about 10 days ago. She's been to the doctors many times since then . It could've been horrible worse. I'm glad only a car need to be replaced.

On the good side though, one of the local Hooters is open tomorrow evening, so I'll be able to go out there and watch the Chargers - Titans game on the NFL Network image

I got a great gift this Christmas....besides the usual cards and stuff. On Monday night my Dad had a stroke and I've been worried about him all week. Well I am happy to report he is doing well and is starting to move his right side. He still can't speak or swallow, but that's ok, he is working on it. What more can I ask for than being able to spend Christmas with my Dad?

Please, I ask you all to give your loved ones a big hug and tell them you love them this Christmas day.

And to all the wonderful people here on the board, I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas. image

My wife and little ones bought me a few sports related items this year.

Even though my wife is a baseball fan, she really hasn't bought me any sports related items over the years. This year she bought me 3 very nice photos.

First one is from Steiner Sports and its an 8x10 Duke Snider photo with auto.
Second one is a 8x10 photo of Dale Sr.
Third one is from the Cooperstown Collection and is an 8x10 photo of Jackie Robinson with a certified piece of a Dodgers game used ball. It's also #80 of 500.

My wife mentioned she wished she could have gotten me more, but I told her they did very well!

Hope everyone has a blessed and safe Xmas!

Brian, I have the identical Snider photo in my office. Merry Christmas!
  • Well I got some jeans and pants, 2 new pairs of baggies (board shorts, bathing suit, swim trunks, whatever you guys call them) , a $50 ebay gift card, a promise from my dad to take me to the card shop and pick up some toploaders/cases and possibly a box, and 4th row tickets to tomorrow nights Lightning-Atlanta game. A few odds and ends here and there but that sums it up!

A couple of weeks ago I bought myself a new blue Lightning Lecavalier jersey without telling anyone really and it came in the mail a few days ago. Well I go to open up my sister's gift this morning and inside the box is a receipt for the SAME jersey I had bought myself with a note saying "Don't go buying yourself presents before Christmas!". They ordered the SAME one on-line just a few days after I did image So now I guess I'll be putting one of them up on ebay, and keeping whatever money it gets me. Kind of bummed about the whole situation, really, but oh well.

    Merry Christmas guys!

WOW! Many of you received some really nice gifts. PLEASE enjoy them.

Ted, I think you received the best of all ... still having dad around to celebrate Christmas with. Please know your dad and your entire family will be in my prayers.

Diamondman ... I can truly relate to going thru tough times ... all we can do is hang in there and hope and pray that things get better down the line. STAY TOUGH!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • Times are tough in the real estate appraisal business, but my mother came through with a Disney Cruise for my family in January, as an older person not sure what I am going do, but my 11 and 13 year olds are looking forward to it, hope my wife is too. Did have to pay for plane tickets, fair trade if you ask me.

Goot-- The blue "bolts" jersey is really one of the nicest third jerseys in the game. I know the NHL shop has no returns on personalized stuff, but isn't the lecavilier one preprinted already and thus not personalized and returnable? Either way, congrats and good luck

I got a Kyle Orton jersey, at Matt Moulson jersey, and a John Tavares jersey. In addition, I am treating my brother to the Isles/Rangers game tomorrow night. It should be a great christmas weekend.

    Merry Christmas everyone!
  • Yes, I got a snuggie, and you know what? It not only allows easy access to the remote, it keeps you nice and cozy while sorting cards. Maybe they can make them with the logos of our favorite baseball teams. I know, don't push it Doug. I actually feel and look like a goof............at least I'm warm. Merry Christmas everyone.

Doug, that's a great picture - the expression on your face is priceless.

By design, for the first time our family decided to go very low key this year for Christmas. There's one thing under the tree for me from the wife & kids, which probably won't get opened until later tonight. I'm pretty sure it's a new keyboard & mouse that has an iPhone/iPod docking station built into it, which in reality will be a family gift as we can all use it.

That doesn't mean there wasn't some nice cardboard under the tree, though. My OBC gift is still there, but I couldn't wait to open the box that Jason (five7teen) sent me. Jason's surprise gifts are always very thoughtful and very appreciated.

First up was this T206 beauty, which brings my Superbas set to 22/27. Given my recent buying spree, it's pretty cool that Jason was able to hit a rapidly shrinking list.

    image

Next up were some awesome Dodger autographs, including a 1960 Fleer Zach Wheat!!!!!

    image

Also included were a great assortment of Dodgers from various sets. Some highlights were a Upper Deck Masterpieces Russell Martin (love the look of these - might have to start a set), 2005 Topps Gold Andre Ethier rookie, some Brett Butlers (can never have enough of those!) and a super cool 1981 OPC Steve Garvey. I think one day I'm going to do a run of vintage OPC Dodger sets. I've only got a few, but I really like them.

Jason, thanks very much for the terrific Christmas gift.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

  • A good read, this thread.

I got my first real drill/driver-18V Black and Decker, more than enough for a layman home owner like me. No more Versa-Pak (7.2V on a good day) for me! And a pecan pie!

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Well they apparently bought it off ebay and the guy seems to have a pretty strict return policy. My brother in law thought of possibly trying the ole switcheroo and returning it to Dicks or Sports Authority and trying to get store credit for it there, then giving me the gift card that they received. Not sure it will work, but I'll leave that whole deal to him. Worst case scenario I put it up on the "bay".

At first I thought my brother in law could just have it, but then I realized that we go to games together often, which would mean we would probably be matching (that's his only Lightning jersey) most of the time haha...

I got a gift form santa perkdog. I really like the Aikmans Paul! image

    image

Tonya got me these for my 1994 Pro Line Live auto set. I think I'm down to less than 5 cards

    image

Tonya and I received a package in the mail from santa Trent in Canada. We got it about 3 weeks ago. It was torturing Tonya, just sitting there, so she pm'd Trent and asked him if she could open it. She even tried to use some of her womanly charm but had no luck His reply was a simple, No image

Anyway, I'll post my gifts and leave Tonya post hers.

This is a very generous gift from Trent and I appreciate it greatly

He sent me a 1977 Topps Football vending box. I can't wait to rip into this.

    1978 Hulk graded wax pack.

1976 Fleer Football graded wax pack.

A vancouver 2010 Winter Games coin sport card and some cool hockey stamps.

Last but not least a 1910-11 C56 Gordon Roberts RC. I've never held a card this old before. I think Trent is trying to get me hooked on vintage stuff because it is awesome! I'm getting it graded with my re-up voucher in a few weeks.

Thanks so much Paul, Tonya and Trent!
  • I got $150 from my dad, about half went to the X-Mas dinner and the other half on groceries and the like. I did buy a $50 Tony Gonzalez 1/1 card, which I posted in the mail thread, and I would not have been able to do that had my dad not given me a little a money so I kinda consider that my X-Mas gift. It is also the most I ever paid for a Gonzo card....so I better like it...:^)

Then of course my SS gift I posted the other day and my CU SS gift. Both SS hit home runs and it is appreciated.

Overall a pretty good wind down of a year. It is not, 5-6 years ago, and I did not spend $200 on everyone like I use to...but that's all right. This last year was kinda rough (and a lot rougher on a lot of other people), but I still own my home, have all my utilities on, and there is plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. I really can't complain.

Sorry to hear about your foreclosure diamondman. I hope that 2010 is better for you.

  • I don't post on the boards all that much, but it's certainly not for lack of interest - in this case, I wanted to share a wonderful Christmas present I received from Geordie. A week or so ago I received a box in the mail, with a wrapped gift and a note instructing me not to open until X-Mas. Despite knowing that this box would be far better than the socks and books I would probably (and in fact did) receive, I dutifully waited until yesterday. Finally, after the family portion of Christmas morning, and the resulting games and Lego construction (Hungry, Hungry Hippos, Battleship, and Lightning McQueen Dominos in case anyone was wondering), I snuck away to open my gift from Geordie.

It's not often that you can vault into the Number 1 position in any set in one fell swoop, but Geordie sent me the cards to let me do just that. I'm not clever enough to post a link to my new 1977 Topps Seattle Mariners set, but I am currently the number one finest set!

Geordie, thank you very much for the gift, I'm blown away by your kindness.
