Can anyone explain what's going on with this seller???

This would appear on the surface to be the worst business model in the history of Ebay.....but I bet NGC loves him image

Schatzy, while i will admit to not understanding either, the OP's example is many times worse than the Everyman Set

to wit: there is a 1988-D Lincoln Cent Improperly Cleaned

this means someone took the time to CLEAN a 1988-D Lincoln Cent image

lack of knowledge in collecting and selling.

probably learned from just studying eBay.

  • Just silly when you think of the value of the coins, the cost of slabbing....and then the icing on the cake is the BIN prices being asked image

    I cried,

    I, ... I, ... I don't know what to say.

That is a very "special" kind of person there.

  • How is that any more stupid then people paying hundreds of dollars for common date peace and Morgan dollars because of a toning premium?
  • My guess is that this Ebay seller is conducting an experiment for a college psychology class.

My guess is he asked someone why his raw monster rainbow toned Lincoln cents were not selling on eBay, and he was told that for the toning to be market acceptable the coin had to be in a slab. He seems unclear on several concepts, frankly.

You are too funny.......like a broken record of course but too funny image

If I could pull a morgan out of curculation, pay $30 bucks to have it graded and then try to flip if for $150 ...it would be the same...otherwise your comparison is lame and incorrect....as usual image
  • Some kind of Federal grant money has to be involved in that operation.

What is the psychological effect of realizing that the wasted money on grading fees is being funded by a Govt Grant for psychological research....?

So your point is that your favorite toned coins are cooler than his and thus worth a premium while his are just too common to be worth more than a normal one unlike the super rare 80 something S Morgan's. Please, I just see this as one more person looking to prey on gullibility of people who pay Tone premiums. I bet these move at the right price (less than $10) which is a higher % then a lot of others. And just because a few have made money flipping Toned coins they have bought only proves there are bigger.......

I checked his completed auctions before reading this, and most of his raw toned Lincolns didn't sell even with $.40 and $.80 starting bids. Thus my speculation that someone told him a toned coin had to be TPG certified to be "market acceptable".

I still have no idea what you are talking about and how you could argue buying graded toned coins in any way relates to someone selling graded circulated coins on ebay but I am sure in your mixed up little world it all makes sense. I actually feel sorry for you....I still think you need a hug or something image

I'm hoping to win the beautiful 1957-D whizzed cent - the centerpiece. Just think - that coin was missing from every major collection of the last 50 years!
