So I get a package today...

So I get a package today with three little wrapped gifts inside. All marked to "Mark" from "Santa." So of course I opened them, despite getting onto my niece a couple hours earlier about wanting to open all her gifts.
The large package feels like a hand held electronic game. I hope it is a trivial game over a sport game. I like sport games, but just not in hand held. But rather then a Harry Porter hand held game, inside was two packs of cards.

On the back of this 1959 Topps Man on the Moon pack is Bazooka comic offer #450. For 300 Bazooka wrappers, or 60 cents and 10 comics, you could send off for a free "genuine whale's tooth good luck charm." Which of course makes one wonder how many teeth a whale might have. This answer of course depends on the whale, the illustration on the pack appears to be a sperm whale, so between 50-80. So, the mouth of a sperm whale was worth 15,000 to 24,000 bazooka gum wrappers in 1969. Honestly, I think a whale can chew twice that much.

Hiding between the two packs was a little, like Topps micro size, 1993 Skybox/Frito Lay/Hostess Canada Star Trek Borg Ship Card. Pretty cool. A couple years before in the US Frito Lay made like Star Wars cards/disc, that I tried collecting.

Next, a 1990-91 Upper Deck Hockey High Series box, not sealed. (I never knew they made a hockey High Series set. I do however think that the baseball set might be the most common 20th century set). Opening the box to examine the cards instead found a stack of old packs. And here I was just talking about collecting packs the other day. Smells like a conspiracy to me.

The third package was a card in a top loader, wrapped. Never heard of this guy or the card company, some "Gretzky" guy and "O Pee Chee," but I guess I will keep the card. I like the colors of hte uniform. Very rough cut edges....very OPC. I like it a lot.

Thanks Santa. This was the coolest gift anyone has ever given me. I greatly appreciate you thinking of me and wish you and yours well (along with everyone else of course). This last year was kind of tough for a while but things have started to really turn back around the last few months. If my house wasn't paid for not sure what I would have done. Anyway, I don't need to get too personal and starting crying on my keyboard and all so I will just end with a little smiley. :^)
Clear Skies,
Mark

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Same Santa asked me not to open mine either but I opened mine as soon as the mailman let go of them. >>
Santa didn't tell me to wait. Since there are so many different Santas, I am sure mine must be the Santa that has you open your gifts on the 21st. I believe they did a Night Line special on him a couple years ago.

You better hope so, or else next year you'll be gettin' a box of 1990 Score baseball
