Charitable Deduction for donated cards

Hello gang. I'm a long time lurker on these boards and wonder if I can get some assistance with my first post. I donated a 1983 Donruss baseball set for a church slient auction. All cards are in plastic sheets and a binder except the Sandberg which is a PSA 9. I could not find a posted SMR value and wonder if anyone would provide their expertise on what I should deduct on my 2009 return.

And to all Seattle fans on the boards, enjoy Milton Bradley next year.

I would prolly feel safe going with a number close
to the price that the items sell for through the
    church auction.

You could use a retail number, but you need to be
able to explain it if asked.

  • According to Beckett -

    Low Price High Price
    COMPLETE SET (660) $30.00 $60.00
    COMP.FACT.SET (660) $40.00 $80.00

Latest Auction Prices for: PSA 9 According to VCP on Sandberg
    Average Price: $7.44

Add in binder and sheet costs to come to an approximate value.... perhaps $100. The Beckett price is for all 660 cards in NM-MT condition.

As with all charitable donations, keep it within reason or be prepared to explain yourself.
I would have been happy to get a bag of balls for Bradley, good riddance.
