White Sox TTM Project: Need Some Advice

Need some advice...

I'm thinking about doing a 1983 White Sox TTM project (since it was their best year since 1959, they had the best record in baseball, AL West Champs and all-around a very memorable team and great summer).

Here's the question I pose:

Should I use the 1983 Topps set along with the traded set from that year (which has most of the players minus a few bullpen guys (Agosto and Barojas) and backups (Scott Fletcher and Dave Stegman), but also has some guys that were traded after the '82 season and never played on the '83 team (Kemp and LeFlore))?

Or...

Do I use the 1984 set that has almost everyone that played on the '83 team and has photos from the '83 season, with the one problem being that it's the 1984 set and design (not the '83 set that was out while the great season was actually happening)?

get a program from 83 and have them sign the cover - frame unsigned cards around it
  • I want to do the cards though because I can send those individually through the mail. You'd never want to send a program after you have multiple signatures on it....the entire project could be lost in the mail.

LOL, no, it was their best year since '59 up to that point, and also the first really good Sox team I witnessed as a kid.

Since then, of course '05 was one of the greatest single season runs of all time. I have the entire team TTM set for '05 already except for the very elusive Damaso Marte.

I guess you have never seen pics of VitoCo's projects!

The cards are pretty cheap ... why not send one from 83 AND 84 to the athlete?

I forgot it was Vito that worked on the amazing Celtics basketball. He has some great stuff.

Perhaps I'll send cards for both years and figure out what to frame later.

Nice to see a fellow White Sox collector. I would go 1983 and fill in the blanks with the 84 set and leave out the players from 82. If uniformity(sp) is a big deal to you there are people on here that make great custom cards and could do the 1983 design.
