    I also think that the obverse of the 1988 half eagle Olympic coin is spectacular and I like to acquire gold in the modern half eagle commem format because there are some terrific designs and the vast majority of buyers and sellers have not descended upon this niche at the moment.

    I'm partial to the Constitution obverse, too. Both of them look amazing in the matte BU they came in. Here's the proof:

    Yes, there are a number of cool modern half eagle designs. The 1987 Constitution obverse, 1988 Olympic obverse, 1995 Civil War reverse, 1996 Smithsonian reverse, 1999 Washington obverse and reverse, 2006 San Francisco reverse and 2007 Jamestown obverse I have always found to be quite attractive.
