Down Goes Ripken ! UPDATE DEC. 2010

I thought I'd share a pretty cool photo....It's a "pre-streak" original UPI wire photo dated 05/03/82 when Cal Ripken Jr. was hit on the head with a fast ball from Seattle's Mike Moore, which cracked his batting helmet and sent Cal to the ground (and out of the game).....I had Cal sign it last week and he told me the story that he was leaning over the plate looking for a breaking pitch and got the "high hard one" instead....
Cal liked it so much, he made a copy of it for his own collection prior to him signing it with a neat/unique inscription...
Enjoy!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Very nice.
<< <i>I love it! It's cool that you have a connection to Cal - it helps to build up your collection in some great ways. >>
He always looks forward (so he says anyway) to the things I bring him to sign because of their uniqueness......

<< <i>I am not a Ripken fan, in fact, as a Yankees fan I pretty much despised him, but of course respect him and the way he played the game. With that being said, I look forward to every post that Bill makes from his collection. Absolutely amazing stuff that just! Keep the pictures coming!

<< <i>I like that picture and inscription alot, Thanks for sharing it with us. >>
I meant to state this earlier, but I think one of the reasons he liked this photo so much is if you notice, his dad (Cal Sr.) was one of the first people to come to his aid....

This is another one of those AP Laser Photos dated 08/13/88 which is the ACTUAL day that my oldest son was born. I had Billy sign this to him the other day and this will be a gift for my son tomorrow (we'll get it framed)...
