Thanks ESPN, for ruining Opening Day

jdip9jdip9 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭
Yanks/Sox Opening Day moved to Sunday night.

If I were a Yanks fan, as the defending champs, I'd be upset that we have to open in Boston.

As a Sox fan going to the game, I'm angry that the Opening Day experience is ruined by a night game. Not to mention, it will probably be 25 degrees colder, and a half hour longer because it's ESPN.

I'm starting my rain dance tonight.

Wear a jacket. Bring an umbrella just in case your rain dance works. Drink many beers. I'm sure you'll be feeling happy by the 3rd inningimage

that stinks - nothing like a daytime opener at Fenway. Been many times.

Baseball lost a fine tradition when other than the Reds open the season.

  • A night game in early April in Boston? I bet it gets snowed out.
  • You now have the distinction of being the only Sox fan on the planet who is
bi'chin about going to a Sox/Yankees game. Congrats.
  • You're pissed because your favorite team is opening the season at home, on Sunday night, against their biggest rival on primetime tv......and you're going? Relax and enjoy the game!! Millions of people would KILL to have tickets to that game.

2010 will be the first season since 2005 (I was at the game. Didn't even sell out Opening Day against the Blue Jays haha! Dark ages of the franchise, for sure!) that the Rays will open at home, and it's against the Orioles on a Tuesday night.
  • Fenway sells out every game so I suppose it's essentially a moot point, but Opening Day is such a huge deal it seems almost a waste to add the whole Yankees rivalry issue to the mix. I've always thought they should hold off on the big rivalry games until a few weeks into the season at least. Everyone is excited anyhow. Plus it's a shame for the Sox to have to start off their season with a double-digit loss.

That's right, I said it. Yankee Dynasty Time Again!

as much as it pains me to agree with a Red Sox fan, I must....the all knowing TV $$$''s dictate everything nowadays......

The world just wants to reenforce how the Yankees will spank the Red Sox for the entire 2010 season whether it be at home or away! Go Yanks! image

I love the idea. Chances are great the weather will suck and be cold. Low scoring games all while knocking a few road games in Fenway off the skeddy right off the bat.
