I'll take 3 or 4 "December swoons" as opposed to a 50 year swoon anyday.

Phillips is merely a symptom of a greater ill...Jerry Jones. If Wade goes, Jerry will surely fill the spot with another puppet.

Cowboy fans, stop kidding yourselves. They will NEVER be a championship team as long as Jones continues to run things.

I agree, unless Jones hires a strong leader this will continue to happen. Since Jerry has an ego larger than Al Davis' that won't be happening any time soon.

touchdowns earning Super Bowl MVP honors as the Cowboys
defeated the Bills 30-13 to win their second consecutive NFL
    title.
  • Jerry Jones was one unhappy person today that is for sure, the camera caught him in the owners box slamming
a pencil or pen down on the table he was sitting in front of in the last minute or so of the game and he looked
like he wanted to kill somebody (probably the coach).

In reality, even if the Cowboys make the playoffs this year, they won't go far at all. I'd rather them lose the final 3 games and miss the playoffs. Maybe then, Jerry will realize what an idiot he is and hire Bill Cowher to fix this 15 year debacle
  • DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭
"fifteen year debacle" Geeze has it been that long. It doesn't seem that long ago we had that super team (best team ever) that won the Super Bowl 3 out of 4 years and would have won more if Jerry hadn't run off Jimmy and brought in ole duffus from OK.

I'd love the Cowboys to get a coach like Cower but I wonder how long he would last before Jerry got rid of him. Parcells got the team on the right track but Jerry messed that up.

So true, imagine if Jimmy stayed a while longer.

I don't like some of Jerry's actions, but he did build that SUPER team and brought in Jimmy win and win he did!!! He should have NEVER run him off!!!!!

    Cower would be great!!

Jimmy built the superbowl teams. He was a draft mastermind, the best in the NFL at that time. Jerry was only the bankroll.

Make no mistake...Jimmy Johnson built that team, not Jerry Jones. Jimmy was forced to leave because he could no longer tolerate Jerry's meddling. Jerry couldn't stand to see someone other than himself get the credit for building a winner. He's been out to prove that he never needed Jimmy in the first place ever since they parted ways. One would think the proof has been in the 15+ years of pudding, but stubborn Jerry Jones is blinded by his massive ego.

It has been an endless parade of puppets and yes-men ever since Jimmy Johnson left. The only exception was Parcells, who also left because of Jerry's meddling. Witness the signing of Terrell Owens, whom Parcells never wanted on the team.

Sure, we can poke fun at Stevek because his Eagles have never won a Super Bowl, but the fact is Philadelphia has long been the class of the NFC east. They are a well-run organization from top to bottom, with ownership that stays in the background, a front office that drafts well, and a coaching staff that understands football. I'd much rather have a team like the Eagles who always have a legitimate shot at a title than one like the Cowboys, who have become the poster boys for football mediocrity.

Edited for spelling and to say "Amen" to lawnmowerman's last post.

You're wrong - Jerry Jones is a genius, with football brilliance and wisdom unsurpassed by anyone else in NFL history...I wrote to him and told him this because I want him confident, and owning the Dallas Cowboys for a long, LONG time. ah Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha........................................................

That's a great description of why the Cowboys have struggled since the mid 1990's. A coach who gets lost in the discussion is Chan Gailey. Gailey was fired after taking the Cowboys to the playoffs twice in his short time w/ the team. I'll never understand why Jerry fired Gailey to go with Campo.

Gaily and Campo BOTH go in the Phillips bucket of dufesses!!! As far as I'm concerned the Cowboys only good coaches were Landry (BEST) and Jimmy. The jury is still out on the fish. ALL of the others were inept losers!

I have no problems w/ Gailey since the Cowboys went to the playoffs both years he was with the team.

  • I think Jones is more concerns with getting that Mayweather fight, however I do think they will win this week.

How are they supposed to beat the Saints when they couldn't beat the giants or chargers??? Neither of those are as good as the Saints.

It really doesn't matter anyway. I don't see anybody beating the Colts! Period!!! Barring injuries.
  • You seem like a real fan. My opinion is based mainly on Saints being pushed mightily last 2 weeks, Atlanta without starting QB or RB and Redskins should have won if not for missed field goal, and I think the Cowboys have yet to fold, having played fairly well, not like in past Decembers. Along with the fact it means nothing to Saints and must win for Cowboys, just an opinion. I also think San Diego is my SB favorite as stated in earlier thread on Ravens.

I'm not feeling a win over the saints but it's not out of the question. We all know the old adage.

Tell ya what I think the 'Boys do beat the Saints. NO has won the last few games by a FG one game because of a missed FG I think.

The Saints are ripe for the picking and I bet Dallas beats em.

Hope so Paul. We need that game to hang close to Philly

I'm not saying it's impossible........just wouldn't bet my dimes on this game. We have lost several games that we should have won, but that's life. I try now to keep things in perspective. I literally got sick in 81 on 'the catch'. What a piece of crap. Joe was trying to avoid a sack from a jailbreak of Dallas D-line and tried to throw the ball out of the end zone but couldn't get it high enough and clark happened to be there and somehow caught it. I was so mad I didn't watch the Super Bowl. The ONLY Super Bowl I have not seen!!!!image

The Cowboys cannot overcome their December swoon - it's like trying to fly out of a black hole...it simply can't be done and their December swoon is a more powerful force than any little star swallowing black hole.

  • I cheer for Indy and will admit that a Super Bowl of unbeaten teams would've been nice so the unbeaten Dolphins get silenced either way. However, in an extremely close MVP race I am glad that Peyton is the last unbeaten QB.

Yes, a nice win for the Cowboys, and I agree that basically stuck a fork in the Giants season. Frankly, despite the Eagles recent success against the Giants, I'd rather face the Cowboys in the playoffs if it comes to that, rather than face the Giants who would have a big revenge factor going for them against the Eagles, and of course the Giants know how to win playoff games as many players on that team have won a Super Bowl. I always hate it when the stinkin' Cowboys win a game, but this might actually turn out better for the Eagles in their quest for the Super Bowl.

Exactly. Dimeman has a little bit of Joey Stalin in him, he loves to to talk smack but he tends to talk in circles at times image

    I agree 100%...

The video of Folk's pregame warmup is an airtight argument in itself. During the post-game show, Deon Sanders tried to get Ware to throw Folk under the bus - you know he wanted to but he ended up saying all the right things.

Don't mind Grote15 too much..he's just in a bad mood because his Jets aren't doing much lately, and his Mets have virtually no chance of doing anything in the upcoming 2010 season.
