What is this? 1872?

A friend purchased this on ebay and wants to know if it is gold. Thanks for the help.

Tell your "friend" it looks fake to my eyes. But, yes, it is dated 1872.
My friend payed $10.00 for it thinking she got a deal on real gold.,
