Glenn Beck is more than willing to debate the issues that affect gold, and he makes money from Goldline advertising.

Al Gore is not willing to debate the issues that surround "global warming", yet he has $100,000,000+ interests in "green projects" that will only benefit if they are subsidized by large government backing.

Glenn Beck is willing to let people make their own decisions about gold, while trying to persuade them with his points of view.

Al Gore is not willing to let people make their own decisions about their own lifestyles. He wants the government to step in and force people into choices that will make him boatloads of money in enterprises that wouldn't be viable without government subsidies.

I know it's comedy, and most everyone here knows it's comedy but I would bet most of Stewart's viewers believe his presentation. Ahhh, the sheeple mentality.
  • aww Jon Stewart said it. Thats funny. I love how comedians become global financial experts overnight. I could debate these as*wads and take them down on my own. Becks fault gold is up?? Thats a riot. All we need now is Keith Ogremann to tell us that Barbara Bush's hair dye is made of real silver and causing shortages.

The answer is obvious. And, Steward is a dumba$$ - I'm very happy not to have cable TV. My 2 cents worth.

  • FWIW I found the argument Stewart just presented to be infinitely more sensible than anything I've ever heard from Glenn Beck. This happens to be a very PM friendly crowd and we all have our own reasons for buying and holding gold, silver, etc. The problem is that there are a lot of people out there that actually take GB seriously and previously may have had no inclination to put their money into PMs. Shilling for goldline while crying gloom, doom and despair is dishonest. It's a serious conflict of interest at best. Then again, I guess if you're willing to take Glenn Beck seriously objectivity isn't very important to you.

Do I think that Glenn Beck is the reason the price of gold is as high as it is? Of course not. But if you were paying attention you'd note that the Daily Show didn't claim that either. They simply pointed out that the conflict of interest between GB and goldline exists and that Beck himself would certainly LOVE to take credit for the ever increasing spot price of gold (as illustrated by the clip in which he gleefully claims that gold went up $50 in just the time he was on the air the previous day). If you're a Glenn Beck fan I suppose you've long since decided to make allowances for bad journalism and lack of objectivity, but for people like me that insist that news and opinion television should be held to a higher standard this goldline issue is a real problem. This pretty plainly shows that the bottom line for GB is money and that if you have the scratch his opinion is for sale.

  • This whole topic was discussed on US Coin forum. Luckily the thread disappeared the next day. Maybe the same will happen here.

GB is the adult version of the "Soupy Sales Show". Just waiting for White Fang to throw a pie in his face.

A little Google search will show you how he can cry on demand.
