It is my understanding that palladium is used in the auto industry. It was just announced that China has finally surpassed the US in car sales. First time ever.
Not sure the 2 are connected at all. Palladium can be used in catalytic converters but hasn't been shown to be cost-effective yet. I believe it's also been used in the making of hybrid cars but again if it was the magic bean then the price would have gone to the moon.
I did read where China had stopped the export of some rare earth metals used in hybrid engines, saying they would need those metals for the China built cars, and that China finally adopted some emissions standards.
China made cars are far from making their way to our dealerships here. Won't pass safety standards so far.
