BCS Tickets

My son is selling two of his six tickets. He has a bid for $1600 from a ticket broker. I told him he should sell all six, but he is determined to go to the game. I keep thinkng of teh cards I could buy if I had the tickets to sell. Of course, when I was in my twenties, I probably would have gone to the game.

Mark ... good for your son (and I guess you as well) that he can afford to bypass about FIVE GRAND to attend a football game! I hope he has the time of his life.

Ouch. That hurts. He's in his twenties, no wife or girl friend, and makes decent money (engineering degree). Life is good at the moment.

He has two tickets through Tide Pride, and four from some website that sells options on tickets. If your team makes it to the game, you get tickets at face. If they do not, you are out the price of the option (which is what happened to him last year).

Wow, that option thing on tickets is a great idea! I trade stock options, but never knew that existed on tickets.

Mark ... OUCH??? Was meant to be a compliment ... to be able to bypass that kind of money to go to a game is a great position to be in! Sorry if you thought it meant anything else.

  • I had 2 tickets to the LSU/Ohio St BCS title game in New Orleans 2 years ago. They were free and I was offered $4000 for the 2 tickets. I declined. So, I understand.

I would go, too. Hope he enjoys the game!
  • I would definitely go! If/when USF ever goes to a BCS game I will be there no matter what, fully realizing that it will cost me hundreds of $'s! Heck, I considered making the trip to Toronto for our crappy bowl game after our less than exciting season, but couldn't due to some previously made plans for the same day (Lightning- Penguins game). Tickets to it are free for students, I already have a passport, and lodging would've been free as well since my dad's friend has a condo in Toronto and/or my roommate lives in Rochester, NY. Oh well! image

The real question should be: Is your son being a good son and takin' his Old Man? image
