25 min. wait at USPS... I need Paypal shipping tutorial

Wow... I waited in line for 25 min. to mail one card today. I have an electronic postal scale that hooks up to your computer. I've had it for over a year. I just need a good tutorial from someone that's an expert on using the Paypal shipping!!! Thanks in advance.

    There's not much to it...

    Print out your shipping label..

    tape it to your package..

Place in mailbox or do a free carrier pickup (one package must be priority for this option)

Yep, that's pretty much it. The only reason you would want to stick around at the P.O. is to get an acceptance scan and receipt. I do that for insured or higher dollar items, but my P.O. let's me just drop off the others and they scan them later. Not sure if that is "policy" for all P.O.s though.

Edit to add: Use the Multi-Order shipping. I find it much easier than going into each order one by one.
Currently working on: Kurt Warner PSA 9 or 10

  • All you need to know on single/multiple cards is the weight. For reference, a single graded card wrapped in bubblewrap and shipped in bubblemailer is just a tad under 3 ounces. I always add 2 ounces for each additional graded card.

If you are shipping in flat rate boxes, weight is irrelevant.

I LOVEEEEEE Clik-N-Ship!!! I was an old die-hard, handwriting the labels, and standing in line. Once I went to Click-N-Ship, I am TOTALLY AMAZED that more people don't use it! No standing in line at the Post Office!!!

I was scared to make the change at first...but going from the usps front desk to printing labels off at home was one of the best choices I ever made.

    Here is what you do:

Get a scale...can be a cheap one from walmart for 15-20.00

Buy "paypal postage labels" online through ebay

Might want to also buy "Delivery Confirmation SCAN ME" stickers through ebay

Checkout through eBay, plug info in, and print.

Delivery confirmation is about .19 compared to .65-ish through the usps front desk.

    Saves TIME AND MONEY!

I LOVE the PO in the town next to me. A "satellite" office. No routes go out of there only a few PO Boxes for the locals and a maximum of 2 people a day working there. They still close from 11-12 for lunch, but window service is open from 7am-4pm. They do no Passports so there is never a line of people speaking Spanish trying to get a Passport to vacation home at home. "How did they get here in the 1st place?"

They know everyone by name and the stuff just FLYS out of there. It is so small there is no where to lose anything. My kind of place.
  • yep, like everyone has said very simple... I just log into paypal and print the label right from paypal - there is a button next to the transaction that says print postage or something like that. I have a great mail person that picks up the stuff from my house and scans it when he gets done with his routes.

If it’s a big $$$ item I always drop it off at the PO in person though.

Even better, get a label printer (I use a Dymo). No ink required, it makes life very simple.

The only thing I would add about labels, if you're a cheapskate like me-you can simply print out your shipping labels on regular paper, and then cut them out and tape them onto the package with clear tape. I've yet to have a problem doing that. I can see the great convenience of using stickers though, so it's pretty much personal preference.

I got my scale from Old Will Knott scales. They're on online seller. I got the Ultra Ship 75. It's good to the tenth of an ounce and can weigh items up to 75lbs. I've never had a problem with it and can weigh small items, or large packages. They have other versions like a 35, and 55 etc; I've had it for years and would recommend these scales. And no, I don't work for them!

I do the same thing except I am even more cheapskatier. I keep my finger on the STOP button on my printer and push it before it starts printing the receipt.

Click-N-Ship. easy. even the most intellectually conflicted person can do it.

but i'm with gameusedhoop. my local P.O. has been my hangout for 5 years now, they all know me there, and they know where to find my big, heavy Registered Mail shipments when I walk in and ask them to. image

    Hi Bill,

You can avoid having to keep hitting the STOP button on your printer by unchecking the "print receipt" box.

On your PayPal page, click on "Profile" .... then under Selling Preferences click on "Shipping Preferences" .... then under "U.S. Postal Service Preference" click on "Edit Printer Settings" .... then just unclick the "Print Receipt" box .... and click SAVE!

So does that mean you also don't sell to people that make you feel like, ""How did they get here in the 1st place?" ?

  • its the xmas season, expect to wait a bit, if you get there close to when they open or mid afternoon you will avoid the rush. I still enjoy going to the post office and being on very friendly terms, first name basis with the clerks. I get superb customer service and they save me headaches by holding mail, finding stuff that got lost or misplaced and keeping an eye out on my stuff that im sending.

What I meant by this is that if you don't have the documentation to get a Passport, or even have the PO accept your application, then you are most likely here ILLEGALLY.

I've been at my local PO when the Police have been called, just not a good situation when the window clerk feels so threatened that they close the metal window gate while waiting for the Police to come. Not saying it happens all the time, but once was enough for me.
  • I have a question. Is the price for PayPal postage the same as if I went to the PO...or is it a little higher for the convenience? Thanks.

1). UPS - you have to sign up for a UPS account though, and run the risk of them asking questions about why you need labels, etc. (especially if you never ship through them).
2). Click & Ship is a service of Paypal I think, since you have the option of sending via UPS or USPS. You can use Click and Ship outside of eBay as well.

The company that gives them out for 'free' expects you to use them not a competitor.

    Steve
    Good for you.

Are you saying someone tried/thought they could get a passport and was not a citizen?

Not sure the problem was that they were Spanish speaking.

    Good for you.
  • please PM me who gives the free labels.

As stated above, delivery confirmation is free with Priority Mail and costs only .19 cents with Parcel or First Class or Media.

The mailing rates are around 5% less if using online postage.

It's actually a little less for the added convenience!

What is the deal with the "Scan Me" stickers? Does the P.O. not scan the "Click & Ship" labels automatically?

some of the delivery guys don't do it 100% of the time. Since that is what Paypal wants as proof of delivery, it is very important that they do it
