That was a really bad team , but there are some really serious Tiger collectors about.

Team went down hill that season after Hiller was injured.

    Good luck .--- Sonny

As a side note , if Ike Brookens auto is on there , he played from June 16th to june 25th in 3 games ( his only 3 games in the major ) . Nate Colbert , their firstbaseman was sold to the Expos on June 15th.

Ball was probably signed the last part of june.

The Ike Brookens auto is in the last photo towards the top of the ball. Thanks for the dating info. I just cross referenced the sigs versus rosters.

  • Hi Jason,

Is Harwell's name on there, as Sonny said they were bad but we collect about anything up here in Michigan, we're in the process of Collecting the largest group of Unemployed people in America right now.image

I know when I went to get auto's back then, Harwell was the first I would approach, he appeared to be a friend to anyone especially a 10 year old.image

I'm sorry about what's going on up there in Michigan.

Little doubt that the employment issue is the big "O's " Katrina. Folks wanted change and got it. I never dreamed this would be it.

I'll say a prayer for you incase this is getting close to home.

No Harwell or any other HOF type players, I guess Houk is the biggest "name" on it. I haven't checked but I am sure a few guys are dead and some like the aformentioned Ike Brookens didn't sign many balls in the day so it may make this item fun for a Detroit fan.

IMO I could see it getting 100.00. Nice item.

    edited to add:

Besides Houk who is 90, you also have Lolich, Leflore, G. Brown (that's 2 felons) and Horton.
    Good for you.

The memory's a bit fuzzy, but I think the Tigs lost 18 or 19 in a row back in 1975. Of course, that didn't mean that we didn't tune into every single game to listen to Ernie and Paul on the radio.

Very cool ball, thanks for sharing. Remember a lot of those names like it was yesterday. Still a handful of holdouts from the 68 championship team on there. And this was the year prior to the momentous Gary Sutherland for Pedro Garcia trade!

Thanks Steve, yeah I thought maybe 100 bucks is what it would bring. At 4 bucks a sig its not that expensive in reality.

I like the fact that Mickey Lolich thought enough of himself to sign the sweetspot.
