1948 Leaf PSA 7 o/c Paige scam auction on Ebay

This guy is using a generic pic of the card and is using the same cert # of a 7 o/c Paige Levi currently owns.He also has some 1948 Leaf Robinson cards up with the same format (generic pic) I havent checked the certs on those yet but I'm sure its the same scamming.

Could be the guy sells this card then buys it from Levi then sends it on to the buyer.

I can't see anyone purchasing this card without a real pic of it anyways. I mean if youre gonna steal a cert # do it with a card that isnt already listed on Ebay where it can be checked on.

from one of his previous auctions sold----"Although I'm happy with the card, it was not the card pictured in the auction..."

    Gee what a shock!!

Frank didn't Ted explain that the 48/49 leaf set was issued late in 48 and into 49?

Sooner I think this thread came first.

In the other thread the guy "bought" the card, but delayed payment or didn't pay whatever was the outcome, and advertised the card - that is flat out wrong. But if someone wants to advertise and try to sell for a higher price any cards I have listed...go for it...I would imagine Levi would feel the same way.

Its interesting even going on the theory of someone pulling the trigger on his auction than he buys the card from Levi at a lower cost and than once received
he ships to his buyer.....He still gives the impression that the card is in hand and the only reason he doesnt have a pic is because of his scanner being boxed up for the move.

Who can't unbox a scanner for a card he wants $16,500 for? I think that just might warrant getting off your butt and taking it out for a second.

The seller lives in Bensalem, PA which isn't that far from Levi's card shop - he could get the ebay sale, receive payment, drive to Levi's shop within a half hour, buy the card, and easily ship the same day if he wanted to. Unless he is a scammer, I'm sure that's the way he's contemplating doing it. Of course if Levi happens to have sold the card already, the seller is chit out of luck. However if he's done business with Levi before, probably with a phone call, Levi would hold an unsold card for him. All really not a bad business model if it works...but I agree it's highly unlikely not to work on a card such as this on ebay, but I guess the seller figures for a small ebay listing fee with a shot at making a few quick dimes, what the yell.

I agree it is far fetched, I was just throwing that out there.

Saying that his scanner is packed away is BS.

edited to add: That is why I said "Could be" not "I Bet"

    Good for you.
  • Well at least eBay took action on this one - after I reported it...they sent an e-mail and removed the auction:

"Sometimes members allow others to use their images. It's also possible
that the seller got the photo from the same source or from a source we
    can't verify.

However, we reviewed your report and have taken appropriate action. Due

assures you that your account information will remain private as well."
