Went looking on ebay for some cheap slabbed gold.....

roadrunnerroadrunner Posts: 28,303 ✭✭✭✭✭
Actually the first lot on my search showed a PCGS MS64 $10 Indian going for a not so bad price of $2375 with 18 minutes left to go.

What surprised me was that no seller information could be found. It's been a year or so since I paid attention to ebay but is this the deal now? No seller information other than town/state? No way to check their feedback? Paypal only with no recourse if you find out the seller has been a notorious scum bag? Needless to say I didn't tender a bid and clicked off ebay to head elsewhere.

eBay has basically destroyed itself by gutting the feedback system. the only thing I buy on it is postcards of the town i live in.

What good is toolhaus.org if I don't know what the seller's ID is until the auction is over? Or do I ever find out?

Ebay can be scary. I just bought 20 eagles from a guy that had 270 feedback and had sold a couple silver sales so I THINK I'm ok. But still, at the price they were, I'm scared and hope it works out. It's out of my comfort zone.

Ebay seems to have a death wish for its own demise. I used to check it several times a day. Now maybe a few times a month. Since they de-emphasized auctions, all you seem to have is overpriced junk being sold for Buy-it-Nows. The most frustrating thing was basically forcing everyone to use PayPal. That was it for me.

roadrunner, you can check the seller's feedback. Click on the seller's name, it will take you to their feedback page. Then click where it says, 'show all feedback'.

Edited- On their feedback page under the heading ' latest feedback' you click where it says 'see all'.

Yep. You will be able to check their feedback and what type of items sold for the last 90 days. If you want to check the sellers complete feedback beyond the 12 month use toolhaus for negative feedback.

I used to spend hours each day on ebay so I did know the routine back in the 2004-2008 era. But I must be doing something wrong now. Nowhere do I see a seller's ID, feedback, reserve price, etc. All is can see is town/state, current price, next bid, and shipping cost info. The seller could be called JACKTHERIPPER and I wouldn't know it. Not sure what I'm missing. I did sign on and did a programed search that I created a couple of years ago. All that information used to jump out at you on the upper right hand side of the auction page. None of that is there now.

In the above auction please tell me where I can find the sellers ID and FB rating. On the 2 tabs listed I don't see anything.

My last ebay transaction was Oct. '2008. I'm simply not willing to play their game and take all the risks only to give them their pound of flesh.

Someday, when I want to dump the lesser parts of my accumulations - rolls of nickels and cents, some other miscellaneous stuff that I can't sell on BST and such, I'll probably go back to ebay.

But for anything important, forget it.

If you see the location and item number it should be just above that .. it threw me off when they started the new format

I see it on the right hand side.
    Ebay user and feedback

That's the link to their feedback and also their ID.

Sheesh! Thanks for that help. It was only a matter of having my page sizing way off. It didn't help that the frame for the auction is sized differently than the information at the top of the page. This old computer has so many points of degrade (including me) that it gets cumbersome to use. I've been waiting for a nice Windows 7 package to show up before buying a new system. Seems like it's about that time.

Its called Mac Snow Leopard. You will kick yourself for staying with the old system for so long and wasting soo much time every time you use it.
