  • Sweet sig!

Both of mine have the collector fever, so I have got a mixture of 2009 T206, junk wax, some original T206, and a couple of Doran's customs to divide up.

I have started buying a vintage card from a different set each year for them. They will at least have something to remember me by that way.
The best pitch to start a hitter off with is always strike one.

That's actually a cool idea about buying a card from a different vintage set each year. My daughter is almost 2 and my son is due in January so I will probably start something similar in the future. At the end of the day my entire collection will be theirs to do what they want. Hopefully one or both will be into sports.
  • Just bought my 10 year son a 2009 Topps Football factory set with two draft pick relics (Peyton Manning and Mark Sanchez).

I picked my son up a '57 Starr Psa 6 rookie for Christmas and have sent in the HOF'ers from the set to PSA for grades. The Starr was the last card we needed to complete the set that we started earlier in the year. I am pretty excited because everyday he ask when we are going to get the card to finish the set. I'm glad Christmas is almost here because I am beginning to run out of excuses to tell him as to why we can't get it.
  • My son (3) always likes looking at my cards. I picked him up a box of Topps Kickoff Football for him to play with. Everytime we goto Target, he gets a few packs.. So I think I got him hooked.

  • Just picked this up for my son. His favorite basketball player. This should go over well nice. He was asking for a Manning auto football, but I figured I would surprise him. Now all I got to do is get it framed.

My 10-year old son asked for a hobby box of 2008 Bowman Jumbo baseball. With 3 autos per box he's pretty excited about ripping it on Christmas.
Currently working on: Kurt Warner PSA 9 or 10

  • Nope - none of my offspring collect. They ALL love sports and participate. But as for the collecting, it's gone the way of stamps and matchbooks -

they are in the electronic age.
  • My 8 yr old twins boy and girl will be getting sports related Wii games as they have no interest yet in cards and etc. even though they are surrounded by it.Kids nowadays have too many electronic gadgets to keep them busy.

Our house has become baseball central. I am getting my 13 year old a new bat and a new glove for Christmas. I can kill two birds with one stone since he needs them anyway. He collects retro caps, so I will pick him up one of those as well. He wants one cap from every team except the Yankees. I also got him an 8x10 photo autographed by Nolan Ryan. My nine year old is getting a first basemans glove, and after I got my older son the Ryan auto I realized he would be very disappointed if he does not get something similar, so I have a Hank Aaron 8x10 auto on the way for him.
