A woman playing in the NBA....that's a good one.

I love his justification about today's women's sprinters beating male world records from 90 year's ago...like it has any relevance....the best woman in today's game would get run off the court by the first players to ever play in the NBA, and those guys weren't very good by today's NBA standards.

If I recall, in the mid 1970's Anne Meyers (UCLA Bruin hoop star and sister of UCLA All American David Meyers) got a try out with the Indiana Pacers.

She did not last long. A failed experiment. Of course she was not as fast, strong and quick as many of the women players of today, but the same can be said of the many of the men players of the 35 years ago and the men players of today.

I didn't bother reading the story - the best women's pro player wouldn't even make most men's COLLEGE basketball teams - and it's not even debatable.

Maybe she could make a small college bad men's team somewhere? LOL

I hate all the political correctness bull. Here it is. I'm going to be very blunt. There is no way on God's green earth that a woman could even come close to making the NBA. All things being equal, Candace Parker MIGHT (and I mean might) come off the bench for a very bad Divinsion 1 NCAA mens team.

Now, as for a pure shooting contest or skills competition, a woman would have a shot. There are some terrific shooters out there. But the physical nature of the NBA would keep any woman from even sniffing the NBA. I think that is laughable.

  • USF's women's team won the NIT last year so we have a pretty decent team. They have signs in the campus weight room and athletic center looking for "All athletic MALES out there" to be on a practice squad to give them a good challenge. I thought about doing it since they outfit you in Under Armour practice jerseys and basketball shoes, but don't have the time for it. After going to a couple games so far this year, I'm pretty sure I can take all but a couple in 1 on 1 and I was a bench warmer on my high school team. I have respect for female athletes, but they will even tell you men and women aren't on the same page athletically.
