Found a pleasant surprise in the cash register yesterday...

I was counting my till when I saw a proof quarter just sitting in there. I picked it up and it's a pretty good looking bicentennial Washington. I have no idea why someone would crack their dad's proof set for a few cents but I was pleased to find that little gift! Anyways, just thought I'd let you guys know. I'll probably post some pics when I get some more time.

Nice find.
Sometimes, richer collectors spend these so you can have the fun of finding it. OR sometimes people steal coin collections and then just spend them at the store.
<< <i>90% silver Proof? (I guess this is the only way they were made).

BiCentennial Quarters were available in CopperNickel clad via the 1975 and 1976 Proof Sets as well as the 40% silver clad versions in the three piece sets.
The name is LEE!
Sometimes dealers will dump some cheap modern proofs into the tills as well.
Still cool though, I've never found a proof in circulation myself.
