I love that 1824. It came to me from Bill (WWW) and he got it from Andy Lustig (MrEureka), who purchased it from the Stack's auction of S.M.Damon collection. That 1809 is from Bill, as well

google axial lighting and try that technique. I'll be you'll like the results. It's great for eliminating that glare problem you're having.

Looking good, Roman. The CAR 8R and the 1809 8R were very difficult coins for me to image as well.
As Roman points out, both coins are darkly (but colorfully) toned and highly lustrous.
I think it's that combination which makes it difficult to properly capture.
