  • C, better contrast; makes objects sharper and clearer.

    Best: B. Dark enough background for the contrast and detail but has some depth that pulls it together.

    Middle: C. The images stand out with great detail but the plain black background just does a poor job with bringing the image together.

    Worst: A. The images get lost with the background.
  • - B (background somehow nicely softens the image) or A (without background border)

    Stefanie will this be a Happy Xmas card? Nice idea if so!

  • Hi there,

    I must say I like the first but the background treatment should be softened to increase the conrast a bit (the middle figure is knid of lost amongst the outer, somewhat darker images - same with the scales - kind of lost). But, this background layer has more visual interest, keeping my eye moving. The last one which appears too brute with night and day contrast to my eye. Not nearly as cohesive such as the first image. I just think the first image needs tweaking. I'd say the answer is something between the first 2 background layers (more of the top than the second but not much) with the border retained if softened some if only in color or strength (that is what I'd do). This will all even out the minor]/] weakneses in the composition I should think. If you'd like to see some of my own design and color work drop me a PM. I have been active for over 25 years. Lately I am doing books. I hope these suggestions are taken with the good intentions they were made with image

    Best wishes and good work!

    A. I like the "artsiness" of the background, it makes it look more like a bas relief. Also helps to tie all the separate images together rather than having them look like they were plunked down into a void.

    C. = Best, because the background makes the cutouts stand out clearly.
    B. = A close second.
    A. = Worst, because the horse's tail (top right) looks like it's a horn growing out of the lady's forehead, and his back right leg appears to be growing out of the female slave's head! imageimage

    Ditto! A for me as well.
    I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    I like the concept of A, but agree with the comments about its contrast. Darken the A background, and lighten the foreground objects.
