<< <i>Since CAC threads get nuked all the time it must be time for a fractional grading scale, ie. half-point grading increments. That's my two cent bet. >>
HRH did rule out a 100-point scale already, but since a half-point scale would effectively equate to a 140-point scale, I guess that's still fair game.
Still waiting for info on the grading guarantee too, any links?
Perhaps somehow there should be a move toward technical grading, rather than market grading (or have the technical grade available in addition to the market grade).

The thought of laser imprinting of some sort also seems a possibility. Microchips are too costly and difficult to implement. But a laser inscription inside a holder before it's sealed....??

Do you have any idea what "half of everything" entails? No liquidity. Now back to the "dreamy" OT.....

Question: Are you ever going to unclude the U.S. Philippine (U.S. adminitration series) in coinfacts and the priceguide? I spoke to Ron Guth at the L.A. ANA and he said he couldn't see why not since it is a U.S. series, although somewhat forgotten or unawares.

What? HRH is 62 years old? That's impossible. Back in 1996 when I first started collecting, he was only 49 years old.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
It would be cool if PCGS took detailed photos of every coin so you could type in the serial number on a slab that you buy, and it would show the coin, and give the date it was graded. Going forward, it would certainly put the damper on counterfeit coins and slabs....and thnk of the money they could make from people resubmitting coins in older slabs. Cha-ching!!! I think whatever innovations HRH and PCGS are about to unveil will include something to thwart counterfeiters. They seem to be the biggest threat to the hobby today.
I would not be suprised to see them add subgrades, such as + or -. Or even abbreviate IE, L ,M,H.Many years ago I had asked them why they diden't do this.Never know, stranger things have happened.
<< <i>far too many replies to check each one, but i wonder if the day will come when the date a coin was graded will be known from the "Cert #" link?? >>
What difference does the date of grading make. PCGS claims their grading standards have been consistent from the beginning. Don't you believe them?

Because to Err is Human. I specialize in Errors, Minting, Counterfeit Detection & Grading. Computer-aided grading, counterfeit detection, recognition and imaging.
I knew I would eventually join CoinFacts and just did, and am glad I did. I just took a first look at the sight after joining.
My specialty is barber halves and I am impressed with what is already there. I can see it is still a work in progress and I have lots of information I could add, but I don't see any specific way to provide such input (with the likes of David Akers and Q David Bowers there may be little that I would add of value anyway). I look forward to seeing the information and images expanding. The 1892-O micro O is illustrated, but no separate listing for it is present with population data or pricing (at least that I could find). I suspect that it will come eventually. The highest graded micro O is the PCGS MS 68 Eliasberg example owned by Dale Friend, the next best is the PCGS MS 67 from the James Stack collection, there are two MS 65's including the one owned by Steve Duckor and the other by me (mine is from Jascha Heifitz/Silbermunzen) and there are multiple MS 63 examples; the MS 64 on the population report may or may not be a coin that eventually was upgraded. I think that for barber halves that getting the entire sets of Dr. Duckor and me will be a great opportunity to provide many top-end coin images to the database. I suspect that this will be a tactic utilized by PCGS for many series, when they can get to it.
Again, PCGS has done a great job with Coin Facts and I will use it to enhance my enjoyment of this fine hobby.
<< Now, you really have me wondering if I should put some of my coins in for grading now, or wait?????
What's going to be so good about it? Or, will it maybe be controversial so I would want my coins in now rather than later?
Will a new holder come with it? >>
<< Now, you really have me wondering if I should put some of my coins in for grading now, or wait?????
Send them in now ......... it's taking so long for them to grade that it doesn't matter. Your coins won't be graded til the changes and they'll get the new slabs anyway, but you'll be paying the current fees.
