Nebraska vs Texas.....Huskers have any chance at winning??

1966CUDA1966CUDA Posts: 2,004 ✭✭✭✭
Been a Husker fan since living there in 1969 and have pretty much religiously followed them every year(live in upstate NY now). I think they have a shot at actually winning the game outright but I'm surely in the minority. I think the line for Neb. is +14 or so. Their defense is great and I believe have allowed an avg. of under 12 points per game. I think if Suh has a great game they have a chance..Thoughts? (please dont kill me!)

I sure hope so. I would love to see a non-traditional team play for the title (TCU, Cincy, etc.).
  • Colt McCoy will be the difference in this game. Nebraska doesn't have enough offensive firepower.

I don't see Nebraska winning this but you never know and that's why they play the games....

Their best chance is a for the Texas bus to crash on the way to the stadium. If that happens, who plays the SEC champ in the BCS game?

I hope so also, but it will probably be a BCS Conference Champion Cincy not TCU or Boise as I think if win this week they'll jump TCU.

Sorry 66Cuda - Big 12 North had nothing even close to the Big 12 South.

Not even close - give the points and bet big on Texas.

  • Let's not forget how aTm hung with Texas on Thanksgiving evening. It could be a close and exciting game.

That was an excellent game. If i recall the QB for A&M is a freshman - what a bright future he & that program have.

Before that happens there will be a rematch of Florida - Alabama unless the SEC Championship game is not close. Time for a playoff. Let TCU, Cincy, Boise have a chance to show what they can do. If that game is not close Cincy is the team that will get in and the BCS committee will be praying there is not a blowout. Their prayers will not be answered.

No chance Texas loses this weekend. But let's hope one of the Bowls matches up TCU and Cincy or Boise. Would be fun to have that game on after New Years Day.

Not going directly at what you said, but did you guys see where the TCU head coach is AGAINST a playoff?
  • In the 1996 Big XII championship game, Nebraska was heavily favored over Texas. Texas won by 10 points.

Texas has not been running the ball well lately. Colt McCoy will be the difference. If he plays well, as I think he will, Texas will win.
If Colt has a subpar day, then Nebraska will make it interesting, if not win outright.

However, if the Husker defense steps up, a repeat of 1996 is very possible.

'Cuda, please correct the spelling of "Nebraska" in the thread title. It's embarassing. And don't tell me the "N" on Memorial Stadium stands for "nowledge".

I agree about Texas winning... BUT take a look at some of the college football upsets from the past:

    1985 Oregon State (+36) tops Washington, 21-20
    1985 UTEP (+36) over BYU, 23-16
    1972 Missouri (+35) beat Notre Dame, 30-26
    1974 Purdue (+34) at Notre Dame, 31-20
    1992 Iowa State (+29) over Nebraska, 19-10
1969 San Jose State (+29) at Oregon, 36-34
    1995 Northwestern (+28) over Notre Dame, 17-15
1942 Holy Cross (+28) beats Boston College, 55-12

And how can anyone forget when Troy was a 40 point favorite at home against the Tree.
U$C crapped the bed and became the laughingstock of the nation.

So freakin close!!! Have to review the play at end of the game to put one second on the clock!! What happened on the kickoff...Nebraska had been kicking the ball into the endzone all nite then when they really need a good kickoff he kicks out of bounds..geezz!!! And Suh, what more can you say....the guy deserves Heisman consideration!!! Oh well, there's always next year.

oh yeah...i guess they covered the 15.5 points as the underdog!!

here's some info to ponder..maybe NU should have won since the officials blew the whistle to end the game!!

<< <i>An incomplete pass is reviewable...thereby letting the officials review the play. But for clock adjusting, A PLAY MUST BE REVERSED. No play was reversed. You can't "reverse" an incomplete pass. >>

<< <i>Not even close - give the points and bet big on Texas >>

    ...good thing I didn't take this advice....took Neb. +14.5 for $100
