1985-86 opk hockey

I bought a box of opc 1985 hockey and I opened it all but one pack and there was every card but Mario and steve Y. I have been told that there should be at least one or two in a unseached box of 48 packs. Does anyone think I got searched packs or just unlucky. Let know thanks

where did it come from? how are the condition of the cards?

packs may not be searched, but i know if a person has 5 boxes in front of them and they stop ripping once Mario is pulled, they may save the rest of the packs, combine them, and sell a box with unsearched packs.

  • The box came from a guy on ebay with a lot of good feedback from guys buying real wax packs boxes. I know now he had more than one box. The cards look fine, I will never buy wax again. I just wanted to have the feeling of pulling the big card.

  • Hi there.

    Good point Patrick.

Where did you get the box? I thought I read some where that with every box, you would pull at least 1 Lemieux.

  • Sorry typing at the same time.
eBay is a bad place for buying unopened packs and boxes. Just look at some of the threads written on these forums. I would contact him/her and see if there is anything you could work out. Although you probally did get unsearched packs he/she knew that you wouldn't be getting a Lemieux.

Never had any experience with 85 OPC, but I did open a few boxes of 84. One of the boxes did not have any Steve rookies, and a second box only had one rookie. Also, I was never able to pull a full set from just one box. I am not sure if your box was messed with, I can only share my experience.

... The only time you're really guarenteed a big pull, as far as I know, is in the 86, 87, 88 Fleer BKB boxes, I believe you're supposed to get 2 or 3 sets from a box.

You could have bought THIS ONE for $1440 with free shipping. You could probably still work something out with him. Steve Hart from bbcexchange.com is the only place you should buy this type of product from. 90% of the people here would probably agree with me.

Well until you rip that last pack it's all speculation. I have pulled 2 big stars in a single pack many times.

What are you waiting for - Rip away.

Since it's from ebay very good chance you bought a bad box, Could you give a link to the auction? the seller may be known.
  • I think you should post some good macro shots of that last pack with a few different angles. Some folks here can probably tell if the pictures are good enough.

I agree with Jim, I pulled a Lemeiux on my second to last pack about a year ago. There was only one Lemeiux in the box, but I ended up with 12 of another card(common no name guy).

Of course you're going to feel duped if there was no Lemieux, but it can happen. After ripping my box and about 20 other packs I'm still 15 cards short of a set.

I didn't vote in the pole because a yes or no answer isn't realistic with the info provided.

I believe Fergie here pulled two OPC RC's out of a box (BBCE maybe) in his RIP thread

and they were close to the last bunch of packs, sure gave him a heartrace too I'm sure!!

    Edit to Add

    Rip that stat!!! image

  • seems this seller has a history of selling searched product

they are all from the same buyer, but 1 is too many when daeling with unopened on ebay.

okposo21- you beat me to it, this guy has a history of bad product, imo it seems like a typical seller talking up a product excessively to gain a buyers trust. Most people buying sealed boxes aren't ripping them right away so a few bad related feedback would kep me away. Why in the world would you have left feedback already?
  • That feedback was not from me, that was the box sold before me. That Im just seeing for the first time
  • I would like to say I have no proof and just wanted some opinions on the matter.
