Steve, thanks for the prices - that's very helpful as I try to guage what is a 'fair' price for either. Having said that, since I started this project, I still haven't run across either a Monday or an Oates in 9. In that time, plenty of Lopes' have shown up, and a couple of Forsters made themselves know through the BST - none on eBay, though.

bbg, if the Oates in the center comes back a 9, and if you'll price it reasonably (VCP average), then I'll be interested. If you're going to price it in the same stratosphere that you did the Lopes/Forster then don't bother contacting me.

no worries, geordie. His current PSA 9 Oates has the shizziest centering I've ever seen on a 1978 PSA 9.

Let him/her hold on it for like 2-20 years.

I do know this: $89 for a 9 means that the 8 that's up is certainly worth the extra $11.

I don't have a graded '78 Oates yet, and the raw one I have in my set isn't worth sending in. I'm thinking when the time comes to get a graded one, I'm going to go ahead and settle for an 8.

What's nice is that 4SC was the seller. Based 4SC's past saturating the market with like cards in like grades, there's a decent chance more 9s of this card surfaces again soon in a 9. When this happens, this sh#tsack will be taking a bath on this card.

It'll be nice when TNP gets his and the bottom falls out of the market. BBG will have a stack of $30 cards, with value dropping as he sells each one. Good plan.
