Does this Capped Bust half look slab-able to you?

I was wondering if you think this coin looks original (slab-able) and what is your opinion on the grade?

So, you must think it looks dipped but still slab-able?
  • Dipped. A coin that old should not be that white.

I've seen much worse in PCGS holders. It'll slab.

If the luster is sufficient, I would think PCGS 58. Don't bother with the other grading services.

    Will holder.
    AU58.
    When in doubt, don't.

Will holder, but might not grade.
I submitted 3 CBH's almost identical to this one, and all three were BB-ed at NGC; and NGC is
known for being much more lenient on slabbing these CBH's.

    PCGS may Questionable Color it

If the color in the pic is accurate, it's probably had an old dip. Looks lustrous. I suspect PCGS will slab and agree with Mozin about using PCGS. I also think that she's shot 62 as I do not see clear evidence of rub. If they don't grade, they'd probably reject as Altered Surfaces.

    I like her.

Boy, this crowd is rough! This coin is really nice to me. And it should grade AU58 if there is any justice!

    I agree with Stone.

There is a chance it will holder, but PCGS is very suspicious of white 200 year old coins. It appears to have nice luster so it wasn't dipped to death. I like the coin. But I'd say it's 50/50, tops.

As a number of others have said in one way or another, the coin looks like a lightly dipped AU58 that has re-toned. I see nothing in the images to indicate that it shouldn't receive a grade.

I could see that coin a 62 holder
