IB counterstamp on Half Cent $12
(originally the IB counterstamp was thought to represent Isle Barbados but the host coins are almost exclusively U.S. and Canadian half and large cents which did not circulate in the Caribbean; later these were dismissed as fantasy issues; even later, they regained legitimate status as a token for a thusfar unidentified Quebec merchant of the 19th century; this particular piece is on a U.S. half cent of 1800-1808)
