Take a look at these two PCGS xf45 50c seated libertys....

PCGS graded the coin as XF45.
Do you think it's overgraded?
Is this year graded differently from others?
I would have purchased it right away but I think it's no way near an xf45.

Now take a look at this 1843-o pcgs graded xf45
undergraded in my opinion.

There's at least 2 or 3 grades difference between these two coins.

<< <i>Id like it closer to VF, imo. It looks cleanded too. I'm amazed that it's not in a Genuine holder. Wouldn't want it. (NEN, the one dealer i avoid like the plauge, is not know for PQ offerings either) >>
I agree with your coin opinion,
I however have had good experiences with NEN.

Yes, I agree that the 39 is over-graded, more like a 35, 40 max.
The 43-O, on the other hand, is correctly graded I think. It has at least AU 50 details, but does not have the luster to merit the AU designation.

The 1843 has AU details but I think its muted luster hurt it.
Will may be right about the strike. But it doesn't change my feeling about poor eye appeal.
Lance.
And it is priced about right too. Found it.
The 1843 looks accurate.

Disagree completely. I've had many more quality purchases from NEN then from most dealers praised on here. This is also the first I can remember hearing anyone bash NEN in general. They go through a LOT of inventory, it only makes sense that they will have some below average pieces but usually their pricing reflects it.
<< <i>Run, repeat, run, from that 1839. Here is my 39 for comparison, aslo XF45 ,which I am still groveling over but I have made some good progress with my therapist over this issue.
Holy smoke!!!
what is going on with grading consistency at PCGS!!
yours should be at least au50.
