Set collector, Team Collector, or Player Collector?

Are you a set collector, team collector, or player collector and why?

I collect all things Cleveland Indians and Jim Kaat stuff.

I am a player and a set collector. I work on 2 PCs now (Steve Young and Tony Gonzalez) and about 30 sets, one master set. Card purchases are about 50/50 between the two catagories. Kind of wish now I was a team collector. Would be pretty cool to look over ~50 years of a team's cards.

I guess I collect Steve Young and Tony Gonzalez as it is impossible to put "complete" sets together now, and they are two players I like/liked and their cards are fairly cheap. I have been thinking about trying out a baseball PC sometime....maybe Wade Boggs or Tony Gwynn? Not sure.

I like collecting Topps PSA 80s cards because I grew up with them and I have the 80s baseball/football sets about ~10% complete. Getting a stack of new graded cards is like opening a pack as a kid.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

I only collect Phil Garner, because that is all I can afford right now.

I'm a cross between a Team and Player collector.

Bucs: No specific player, just a few cards of random players.
Lightning: Lecavalier is the main focus.
Braves: Mostly Chipper Jones with some other guys thrown in.
Rays: Same as the Braves, just substitute Carl Crawford in.
Magic: Don't really collect basketball. Have a Dwight Howard dual auto with Vinny Lecavalier, and that's about it.

Basically: Carl Crawford, Chipper Jones and Vinny Lecavalier with other assorted players from favorite teams on the side.

Player and team. My player set isn't online yet, so it's allowed me to build up the set for a big debut

It's funny that you say that because I have a pretty good story to tell you. Don't have time right now because I need to go to work but I'll post later. Be looking for a post that reads:

"Huge Card Show In OKC? LMM and MeteoriteGuy?"

Everyone will get a good laugh.

I am switching my focus from building high end sets to the blue chips and other stuff I like. I will complete my 62, 63, 65-67 sets and rebuild my 57 set, but that's it. It's all blue chips from now on, baby. image

Set collector but Topps football only. The fact they lost the rights to the NFL in 2010 stinks! I guess it will give me more time to go back and fill in some gaps.

1997 Topps FB Minted in Canton (10% complete)

I am both a player and team collector.

The main focus of my collection is on Gary Carter, Ron Gant and Roger Staubach. I am also working on Bernie Williams, Troy Aikman and some basketball players.

I have been working on all Dallas Cowboys cards from 1960-1995 for a long, long time. I am no where near complete but don't put a ton of time into it. I also collect Yankees but with very little effort at finishing particular team sets, just picking up cards and autographs I like when time and money allow me.
Collecting anything and everything relating to Roger Staubach
