Grade opinions wanted- 1927 Peace Dollar- Update: Grade posted

The obverse has some scratches between the letters E and R and there are a few good hits elsewhere on the coin, so will it grade and if so what is the grade? Thanks in advance.

I was trying to say that I see no reason it shouldn't grade.
64 is as good a guess as any.

There's something about the numerous light hairline scratches on the obverse of your coin that makes me think super-slider AU-58. I would guess that coin is either an AU-58 or a high-end MS-63 (shot 64).
It all depends on how the coin appears in hand, and how the grader interprets the hairline scratches. Either way it appears to be a very attractive 1927 Peace Dollar. Thanks for sharing and Congrats!

PCGS hates hairlines on Peace Dollars. Probably not enough to bag the coin, though.

<< <i>The obverse hairlines look fairly minimal, even in those large pictures. Unless there are other flaws not apparent in the images, I can't see the coin grading lower than MS63, and think it has a very good chance at an MS64. >>
I agree. I have seen plenty of MS64's in similar condition. PCGS is grumpy these days so my guess would be MS63.
The hairlines seem minor but I'd give it a good hard look with a loupe, particularly the obverse, and then decide if it's worth grading. If it's a $200 coin do you really want to spend $40 to slab it?

but I will say 58.

I have very little experience with Peace dollars, since this is only the second one I have bought. I was concerned that the coin would not grade due to the scratches. After reading all the comments here I think I probably will send it in for grading. I will be sending some other coins to PCGS in the next week or so anyways, so at least I wouldn't have the expense of shipping just this one coin. I paid $38 for this coin and don't expect to be selling it, but I would like to see what grade PCGS gives it. As has been said, it is really hard to grade from photos and I just don't know enough about grading these, so maybe it would be a good learning experience also.
