The majority of CCAC members prefered 3/4 or face-on portraits.

    I like the CFA more.
The CCAC makes Garfield and Hayes look identical, just facing different directions!

The problem is, these low-relief full-face portraits don't wear well in circulation. Not that these coins actually circulate, mind you.

    Agreed...on both points.
  • Weren't the two portraits on the CCAC bottom row, use on a box of Smith Brother's cough drops? image

    I prefer those.

The coins always lose something when the are minted. I like the bottom set of pictures the best (although those guys have faces made for radio image

Shaded sketches look nothing like a relief model.

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the Mint folks if they could do some simulated circulation tests on the dollar coins. What would they look like after 10 or 20 years in real circulation?
