Paypal covers deadbeat buyer. UPDATE (maybe)

----UPDATE: Just started my shipping for the day and noticed they didn't give me the money back. The last entry in the dispute is "No money taken from seller's account" like they forgot they already took it....I have a call in to my account manager.----

Ebay ID grob9605 bought and paid for an item Aug 21. I shipped the next day or so using paypal shipping. He filed chargeback with his credit card company Oct 15. I provided shipping info to paypal on oct 15. (cut and pasted it from one place in paypal to another, you'd think they could do that automatically). Since then I've been patiently waiting. Paypal paid on Nov 23. It has been in status "Being reviewed by paypal" from Oct 15 to Nov 23. edit to add for those who haven't been through this: paypal holds the money while they "review". Just got the money back this morning.

So you might want to avoid this buyer and know you need to be patient when waiting for paypal seller protection. --Jerry

Here is the e-mail I got today from Paypal:

chargeback with their card issuer. One of the unique benefits of using
PayPal is that we help you fight unwarranted chargebacks and attempt to

Usually the funds associated with a chargeback are temporarily held until

Because you followed the guidelines of the seller protection policy,
though, PayPal will cover the amount of the chargeback.

Well, I am glad you got restitution in the end, even if the wheels turned excruciatingly slowly (which is about what I'd expect).

Unfortunately if the buyer had filed a SNAD or non-receipt claim thru PayPal 1st AND you had prevailed at that time a chargeback wouldn't affect you now given the seller protections. Absent that step, it takes longer to resolve.

I have always been curious, when people get blocked by Ebay sellers, do they get any kind of notification?

That would be cool if all of a sudden someone that tried to play a quick one gets 40 or 50 block messages!

Only message they get is if and when they try bidding on another auction.
Would be cool if they got flooded like you said though.
