Help with 1885 P VAM 1A . New Cherrypick

I picked this up today at a pawnshop of all places along with 12 others of the same date and quality. This one in my opinion is a nice MS-64. What is this variety worth in a slab vs raw? I went on vamworld and they showed a VAM 1a sold for $118. quite some time ago. Has there been any sold lately?

Worth more in a slab than raw, as is most everything else. DennisH keeps track of recent sales of VAMs. Perhaps he has a record of some recent VAM 1A sales he can share.

Recent sales from the VAMview archives:

    1885- 1A 64 NGC Oct-09 E $47
    1885- 1A 63 PCGS Jun-09 E $68
    1885- 1A 63 PCGS Aug-09 E $64
    1885- 1A 63 NGC Sep-09 E $61
    1885- 1A 62 PCGS Aug-09 E $58
    When in doubt, don't.

Tom -- Sadly, that's pretty much the case lately. This really puts folks who cherrypick these and other low value VAMs in a quandry, since the cost of getting the coin graded ($18) plus VAM attribution fee ($24)... not to mention shipping... add up beyond the value of the coin in a hurry. I've stopped buying raw common VAMs for precisely this reason, and I even usually pass up lower grade cherrypicks that are in unattributed PCGS holders.
    When in doubt, don't.

Why doesn't PCGS just charge a basic fee then..... I would do a lot more buisness with them if they were a little cheaper on the VAMS.
