Steve Irwin (aka Crocodile Hunter) Coin!

Just got a catalog from the Royal Australian Mint and was astonished to find a new Steve Irwin coin in it. Not a bad thing, but kind of comparable to putting Oprah on a coin. They do seem to go for it Down Under. Of course about half of their coins have kangaroos on them. The equivalent to Lady Liberty?

Good on Steve Irwin. I'm all in favor of him being numismatized.

I think he's done more for Australia's image, and educated more people about Australia then any other person, ever, so I would say he is worthy of being on a coin.

I forgot to mention the new catalog has a really nice frilled lizard dollar--might be my first colorized coin purchase!

I'm all for him being included as an "Inspirational Australian" (the series)...I just wish they'd captured his image a little better. Poor ol' Steve-o. Died too young.
