Los Angeles coin shops?

I'm going to be in LA next week. What good coin shops/dealers are there in that city? Any suggestions would be great. image

B&Ms in the Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, downtown L.A and Anaheim areas would be great.

I see your not having much luck. I do have two that I use.
    Liberty Coin Galleries
    2201 E. Willow St.
    Signal Hill Ca 90755
    Near Long Beach
Lots of graded and raw stuff.
    and
    Bob Patchin's Coin Gallery
    346 S. Tustin
    Orange Ca near Anaheim
Lots of raw stuff and some graded things. A very old school dealer! You won't see any Vf Indian Head nickels without full horn here!

And if your here till Dec. 6 we have the monthly coin show in Anaheim Ca. The Penny Lady should be there too.

CNI near the airport sells only PCGS graded coins. Mostley generic saints, walkers, liberties and commens in 63, 64, 65 and a few 66's.

A buy my bullion from there. MJ
    Walker Proof Digital Album
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Many thanks, Moldnut. I'll definitely check these out. Only there for a week, though...

Sorry, don't really travel to those areas much. I do know there is a monthly coin show in Anaheim though on one sunday a month. The next two are Dec 6 and then Jan 10. If you're there I can let you know the show info.

Here's a link for all of the shows in california if anyone is interested, great resource!!!

I used to go to that one by the hobby village near Anaheim / Buena Park- I think it is on Beach Street (or something). It is located with several other "fun" stores like model train and snake shops. It really is kind of a dive, but they did have lots of stuff and it was near allot of other things anyway. The only thing I bought there was a 50 states quarter album. Sorry, I can't remember the exact name

Wilshire Coin in Santa Monica. Wilshire and Eighth street near downtown Santa Monica. Glenn Sorgenstein runs the shop.

Wilshire Coin has moved to 1312 Lincoln Blvd. between Santa Monica Blvd. and Arizona. For bullion they have a tray of misc. Au @ +$22 over spot. Glenn not around much, Brian runs it now.

CNI on Manchester just East of the 405 has more graded numismatics (most in a store I've ever seen) and lots of bullion. Published prices too.

Goldcoast Coin in Woodland Hills is a little out of the way of the areas you listed, but it's a pretty good shop. Seems most of their better stuff is in the back of the shop and not on display. I had a question once on whehter one of my raw 1915 Lincolns was a matte proof and the guy went in back for a few minutes and came back with 3 different PCGS certified 1915 matte proofs to compare my coin with!!! Cool. They are on Ventura Blvd and do a lot of eBay business too.

This is a hard one it's like giveing up a Gold mine or your best fishing spot. I just cant do it. Sorry But that is just me. image

    Hoard the keys.
  • Passed by Wilshire Coin today and was surprised at how unhelpful they were. I guess the bullion trade has made them disinterested in dealing in coins. In any case, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone interested in an interactive exprience when buying their coins. The guy there was even borderline rude, and that caught me really off guard. I hope he was just having an off day.

Sadly, I've had similar experiences there also. Another dealer giving the hobby a bad rep. I've even seen them gloating about how badly they ripped a customer when they didn't think anyone was in the store. image
