A superb coin cabinet is coming up for auction...

For the man who has everything, you may want to consider this incredible coin cabinet coming up for auction at Bukowski's.

Edited to add that this cabinet would make an especially nice Christmas gift for MrEureka, if you know what I mean. image

    WOW!!!

Kinda pricey for just six drawers. eh?

    $144208.58 on the 1,000,000 SEK

Maybe several people can chip in to buy just one drawer. image

    very nice indeed,

I'd still rather keep my raw coins in an old whitmann album.
  • For that price I need to know what coins are included .

It may seem expensive, but it would be well north of $1 million if the gold medals were still in there.

If there were some good Bertie florins in it, or a few BUFL rolls of Mac's stuff, it might be worth a bid. Otherwise, I'll just stick with airtites and a SDB.

I sold all my BUFL rolls back in 1902. If I'd known I would have lived another 107 years I'd have held on to them.

I really wish I still had that £100 bag of 1838 sovereigns. It was a gift from James Smithson on my graduation from Eton in '38. Ah, the young queen in full flower, but Balliol College and the RMAS awaited. Then later, a bit of action on the Crimea with the 93rd Highlanders, but that bag of bright and shiny '54 bobs I carried into Balaclava fell prey to a Turk ball, cutting the lanyard and leaving them somewhere in that bloody field ne'er to be seen again; at least by me.

Sorry about the slightly wonky angle. The security guard was about to give me static about picture taking, so I was in a hurry.
