Are Saflips ok for .999 gold?

Saflips seem to be a rather hard plastic and gold is a soft metal, so is it safe to send .999 gold coins into PCGS for submittal in Saflips?
Is there any chance of rub or abrasion? Thanks, jmski

If coins are in original mint capsules, leave them in the capsules and slide into a flip to keep the capsule closed. PCGS will accept them in original mint caps.

quite a few years ago PCGS put out an alert because they had deduced that some coins were being damaged when being placed in and taken out of flips. it was more an issue of poor handling than anything else and the whole thing passed away into the mist. the other option is certainly more risky; use plasticized flips and run the risk of the very real danger of PVC contamination.
also, don't ever, ever, EVER use staples around coins, never!!! if you're really paranoid about damage to coins in the flips, buy KoinTains and place the coins in them first and then in the flip.
