Quick and easy Question....Source of Gold in AGEs?

Would I be correct in stating that the Mint is required to source the Silver, Gold, and Platinum used in the ASE, AGE, and APE from metals mined in the USA?

and...Does any other country require this?

Thanks.

I believe it to be law. The Buffalo blanks were obtained from Australia though, as they were not specifically named in the original bill.

I believe you are correct, sir.

I also believe that it only applies to those you listed (ASE, AGE, APE) which I find odd.

Use of Government Platinum Reserves Stockpiled at Mint

    Section 101(f) [title V, Sec. 524] of Pub. L. 104-208 provided in
part: ``That the Secretary is authorized to use Government platinum
reserves stockpiled at the United States Mint as working inventory and
shall ensure that reserves utilized are replaced by the Mint.''

Here is something in the legislation, the American gold eagle coins are legislated for design for the $50 gold coin only, the mint can change the design on the $5, $10 and $25 dollar coins whenever they want.

Haven't read the bill, but I do know that Ron Paul was a sponsor and the bill REQUIRES the mint to meet public demand for bullion coins. Major reason why the collectibles get pushed aside by the mint in favor of the bullion. Ron Paul's way of ensuring us little people get all the bullion we desire and can afford.

  • So, without exception, any American Eagle must be from American metal. Right?
