West German 50 pfennig 1950-G - Does anyone know anything about when/why this was struck?

Found this coin in a old binder. The flip says, "illegally struck." What exactly does this mean? Any German collectors out there that can fill in the details?

The Krause catalogue says the following on the 1950G: "The 1950G dated coin was restruck without authorization
by a mint official using genuine dies - quantity unknown".
It also says $750 in Unc, doesn't mention BU so you're sitting on a winner.

I'm afraid to be alive without being aware of it
<< <i>Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the coin you have pictured is very common. The "illegally struck coin" refers to a 1950 dated coin that used the old design of 1949 (BANK DEUTSCHER LANDER). In 1950, the design was changed to BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND, which was the issue struck from 1950 to 1966 with the date frozen to 1950. >>
I agree ... it's all in the legend.
I have an identical 1950 G 50 Pfennig PCGS MS-65 to the one you have. It cost me $20.
