The worst offense I've seen in the last 20 years...

Late in the game Quinn opened it up and threw some of the worst deep balls I've ever seen. Was his arm that weak at ND?

I like how he couldn't get them to land in bounds. I mean if your just going to chuck it up there at least let it land in bounds to give someone a chance.

I went to the game last night with my son.....we left after the second interception....they made it a game until the second half....maybe they should have stopped at halftime. Being a season ticket holder makes me sick to my stomach. They just don't have an offense. It's not the QB's fault entirely, they just don't have enough offensive weapons..... they are offensive, don't get me wrong but not offensive weapons.
  • I love the whole "QB controversy" in Cleveland. I'm not sure they'd have a win if Manning, Brady or Brees was their QB. I'd actually like to see Derek and Quinn on other teams to see if they are truly as bad as they look. I suspect they are not. The OL is a about as effective as a collander trying to hold water, so these guys are scared s--tless every time they take a snap. No QB could operate with guys in his face every down and no running game whatsoever. Not sure if Mangini needs to go- it's hard to fire a coach at 1 year when you knew it would be a rebuilding year. You paid him all that money so you might as well give him some time and see what he can do. Did they ever say why they fired Kokinis? They said it was "for cause" but they never explained what the cause was. I thought that was a pretty ridiculous move considering he basically inherited 95% of the team and had a decent draft with Massaquoi and Mack.

I think the Browns draft this year will turn out ok but they have had some injuries.

Whats frustrating about the Browns is they call only short passes and runs due to their inability to pass block or is it due to their lack of convidence in their QB? Personally I would rather see them operate their offense like normal and try to get the defenses to have to play the whole field. Even if it doesn't work every play eventually I think you will hit a big play or two and teams will stop crowding the line of scrimmage and play for 5 yard passes.

Manginni or whomever is calling the plays seems like they are scared to call anything remotely close to a NFL gameplan. What do you have to lose now? Getting a QB hurt, the coaches didn't care about that on the last play against the Ravens so why care now?

Peyton and Troy all took abuse and threw tons of INTs their rookie years but they also learned how to play doing that. Right now its like they have a remedial version of their offense and the QBs can only run the "easy" plays.

    The Cleveland Browns......

probably the 3rd or 4th best football team in Ohio.image

Morgoth- yeah it looks pretty much like the same garbage offense Mangini ran when Kellen Clemens was his QB. No chance for the QB to improve. I'm pretty sure Quinn doesn't need to practice the halfback screen or end-around to Cribbs 40 times a game.

One thing about that philosophy, is you go down with the ship. If you played a normal pro style offense and the QB is terrible at least he gets the blame or has a chance to improve. Its like Mangenius doesn't think a player can improve or learn while playing.

If I was a QB with the Browns I would try and get out ASAP and hope he doesn't ruin my reputation in the league. It seems very few QBs get a second chance to start with other teams once they flame out with their original one.

Wouldn't it be funny to see a Mangenius try and coach a Peyton Manning? He seems only to want to be around people he can bully.

Isn't it great they get to play the browns this weekend.....thought I would drive up there to see the game but then I came to my senses.......image

Well, well the Lions win the crummy game of the week.

Things are definitely looking up for the Browns, 'cause they certainly cannot sink any lower now.

have to admit that the game was enjoyable...not the ending I wanted but enjoyable. Hope the QB for Detroit is alright, he looked like he was in some major pain. Anyone know the answer to the situation that came up at the end of the game...ie. defensive penalty, offensive player penalty which causes time to run off of clock....does the defensive penalty have precedence/???? just curious.....maybe I should have driven up to Detroit for the game...looked like there were plenty of empty seats...

  • There were 3 plays run with 00:00 on the clock in order for them to lose this week.

Now that's a page from the Lion's playbook!

I am pretty sure if someone said that if Quinn had 300 yards passing with 4 tds they would have won. Wow they allowed 5 tds to Stafford.

Dan Marino and Steve Young have droned on and on how Derek Anderson is the better QB (seriously Young played catch with him in warm ups) but I would stick with Quinn and try and let him make some more plays before going to the guy under 50% in completion percentage.

not that I'm a Browns expert by no means but it seems that they play better with Quinn....as a season ticket holder I hope they keep him in the rest of the year, at least there is something to watch....I also like the Jennings kid, although he missed a wide open TD right before the half...but he's not the first Browns receiver to miss a pass this year....imageimage
  • i think another really bright spot on the team is massaquai (?) he looks really good especially since the offense really isnt very good.

Massaquoi has been somewhat of a bright spot. Although I do seem to recall him dropping a few balls that he should have caught, he's been the Browns only decent receiver this season. His Yards/catch are third in the league going into this week, but he only has 1 touchdown.
