Post an Indian Head Cent from the Reconstruction Era...

Reconstruction Era being defined as 1866 - 1879

These are my favorite dates for IHC's and the best dates in the series (except the S mints).

That's a beautiful coin, GB, and a really tough date, too.

Those are my favorite dates as well, and I have a number of them stockpiled away - no pics though, and certainly nothing like the one Goldbully posted - what a moose of an IHC! We'll need to get Charmy in here to rival that one.

  • From what I've read, many of IHC dates minted during the reconstruction era, despite their relatively high mintages, were lost to the Recoinage Act of 1870 - - melted and then recoined.

Don't quite understand the logic of the Recoinage Act but c'est la vie.

Yes, that 1871 is a beast!

The 1877 belongs to Toneddollars. Both your 1871 and Mark's 1869 are fabulous.

The obverse looks like a no brainer RD. The reverse (from the image) looks to be the deal breaker. It has the RB look to it. Killer obverse!!
