1916-D Mercury Upgrade?

What are the odds of this 1916-D Mercury in a NGC G-4 slab upgrading to G-6 at PCGS?

This was posted on another coin forum and I'd like your opinion. It does look like a G-4 that deserves a CAC bean.
Thanks!

There is some chance if submitted raw.
Reverse has"America" fading into the rim.
That could keep it out of a PCGS Good-6...IMO, who knows.
Nice looking coin though.
Too bad about that, but it should bring strong $.
I bet this one would get both grades if submitted a few times, raw of course.
It should value about the same to a collector with a good eye in either slab.
the price while the TPGs give the minimum grade the coin deserves
based on their expertise.
I agree with this seller that the grade is pretty conservative, and can easily imagine this one getting a G-6. I think that would be most accurate, though it's really more like a G-5.5.

But we all know that if it does not make the 6, the grade automatically falls down to a 4.

i think there has been many periods of time when tpgs were gladly
giving out the higher grade though... and by periods of time i am talking
multi year stretches based on what i see in some holders through
the generations of slabs.

Yup. And therein, exactly, lies the rub!

Looks like a little schmutz (dirt) or maybe some album-induced rim toning. Doesn't look like a problem to me in the sense of mechanical or chemical surface damage.

Yeah and it's a decent buy at $950 too. It would look so NICE in a PCGS G6 slab!
