Great sets that don't get any headlines!

Looking at the "not so popular sets" I find some really nice sets! Lincoln's, Mercs, Quarters ect... get all the headlines around here.

Here is a great set Great Set This is a killer set!

What are the "off" sets that you don't collect.... but like to look at? Post them!

  • One of my favorite sets, spooly. I collect the proof strikes right now. After I complete those, I may go for the circulation strikes.

If this works, here is a link to my favorite set (not only do I like to look at it, but I like to collect it)...A great type of coin

  • I fully intend to start working on a 3CN circulation strike set once I finish my Lincolns. The 3cn is one of my favorite coins, really underrated, and I think a circulation strike set will actually be MORE difficult than a proof set.
  • I'd love to buy a really deeeep cameo proof 3cn now image

Here is a neat set Cal Gold Type Set.

Boy I wish that set had images !!!!

I would have never cared until I moved out here (well San Jose). It is neat to drive along CA 49 and think about the gold rush. I've been rafting on the American river past Sutters Mill. Never did pan for gold yet, but a friend of a friend has a claim up north....

My definite pride and joy (I know none of you are aware of this) IS my Three Cent Nickel Proof collection. I do like 'em more than my other sets.

I'm with you, Carl. The deep cameos are spectacular. I love the things, especially the obverse. Pure elegance in cameo proof.

And MastaHanky, you are so right. The MS Three Cents are very much the bigger challenge! Good luck on that one!

  • The 3cn proofs are one of the quiter sets and even though I only have a couple of common date pieces I always take peak in there. It seems like such a sophiticated set.image Shaken, not stirred, you know what I mean?image

I like to look at the Seated Liberty Dollar sets and dream away...very nice coins end to end in both of them.

I love the 3 centers as well...and the cameos's are spectatcular..im scared to turn mine in for reholder but will have to i guess..i currently have the top positiond on these in proof and ms..but am somehow so addicted i keep putting together more sets..maybe dr. poole can help me with this addiction..ive tried many others but always return and keep purchasing the 3's...by the way the ms are quite scarse with even few ugly's at the higher grades...did just buy a nice pop1 in 67 the only 1 at LB auction...

Hmmmm - according to certain members of this board, that coin is junk because it's not in a PCGS holder. Such a waste....to pass on a coin like that because of holder politics! image
