Bowers is selling SRQ coins. Thought no one did this.

There were threads about hyping the registry to sell coins, well I see Bowers and Merena now have a Trade Marked term "Set Registry Quality" that they use in the titles of some of their items. While the fact they are using this, and even trade marked the term does not bother me (it is only marketing, and that is how you make money. Look at Bill Gates, it wasn't quality)

Many were saying that they did not think this was going on, what do you think of the new terminology?

Or maybe, it was my first paragraph that had you guys hittin' the "back tab". image
    Sunday's thread

Anyway, most of the major dealers, and even sellers on ebay are now using this new "marketing tool".

  • I remember the thread on Hype and we didn't think there was all that too much of it. Later I received an email from Heritage saying due to Registry buying now would be a great time to sell. It didn't make me fell good as I had just bought two coins. The mail made me feel like I over paid.

(good luck on your coins Q!)
  • I find it comical almost to have someone tell me what a SRQ coin is. My eye and wallet will determine what a SRQ is! LOL. I guess this was just a matter of time. The real question is a SRQ = "*" on the NGC boards.

Food for thought, will a SRQ give you more points in the future? (If that happens Ill stop collecting for a while).

Interesting though they now have there new auction series running with NGC and PCGS SRQtm coins.

I hope the SRQ isnt on the label.

I'm sure Braddick will agree with me, that one person's idea of a "set registry quality" coin and another's person idea of a "set registry quality" coin can definitely be two totally different things.

Doesn't it sound like the B&M version of the overused eBay description "A nice addition to any collection"? It sounds really cheesy.

  • Does anyone think it is merely coincidental that the Registry trademark appears on coins sold or auctioned by another COLLECTORS UNIVERSE subsidiary? David Hall and Dave Bowers sure know how to make "money on money"...the All-American way.
