Have $44 Canadian. What do I do with it?

Just cleaned out the piggy bank and found $44 in Canadian coin. 3 rolls quarters, rolls dimes and 2 rolls nickels.

    1. If you're close to the border bring it with you to cash in or spend.

    2. Mix it in with US coins and deposit in bank.

    3. Donate it to charity - their main office may have a foreign exchange division

    4. Send it to me image

Roll it up and label it. When you or a friend visits Canada, take it or send it along.

Lately with the demise of the US $, Canadian dosh is very near to par with our currency. Where I live near the border, it circulates freely along with American coin.

I once had ONE Canadian quarter in a roll on US coins I was depositing. The teller ran the roll with a magnet, found the quarter and made me take it out.

All great ideas. Unfortunatly, I live in Arkansas now. No one I know is going to canada anytime soon. I thought about mixing it in the $600 of US coin I had but it was too noticable.

Does anyone up near Canada want to take it at face? I will ship it to you at my expense.

My bank teller told me the nickels work in parking meters. I, of course, have NEVER tried this, but there does happen to be a yoghurt container full of Canadian nickels in my truck. image

Depends on how magnetic they are, Canada has issued so many different compositions for their 5 cent coin - it is hard to know. During WWII they issued them in Tombac which was some brass type composition, but later ones were magnetic, but some were not.

It probably also depends on how old your meters are. Ours are OLD!
