Franklin Friends,Fiends,and Fanatics: SOURDOUGH

Someone named " Sourdough" has assembled an incredible Registry Set of Mint State Franklin's that is rivaled by few ........

Ranking #5 , the set is a sight to see, with most of the coins comming from R & I's hands . Many , many rainbows !

One that did not though is a fantastic 1959-D that in MS-66 FBL is the epitone of what collecting rainbow Franklin's is all about

#5 Ranked Set

That is definitely a lovely set. Sourdough should be congratulated. I particularly like the 1953. Tough date to get in that technical grade with that toning. If I was going to be picky I'd like to see another shot of the '53-S... it's hard to see the FBL there and obviously that makes a HUGE difference. I also have questions as to the toning of the '54. However, as mentioned, it's a LOVELY set that Sourdough should be proud of.

.....some of the coins are the most attractive for the date's I have ever laid eyes on ........... the '53 is impeccable

The 49-D is out of this world , the 54-P was a plus $5000 coin I am sure ............ in fact

to amass such a set as this one cost a bundle , you can not just go out and find coins of this caliber without forking over heavy, heavy money .

I just love most of the coins to death , I would kill (insects) to obtain some of them image

a few of them are no doubt destined for the new book

I wonder who Sourdough really is , I'm pretty sure he dosn't make pancakes .

Hands down some of the best Franklin's I ever seen ............. make's me want to murder (insects)

did I mention how envious it makes me to look at them ? Killer coins , absolutely killer

A few of those would certainly FBL with the other service, so I have respect for those graded FL, but there are other ones that would not, so it is very possible they are rated to high. Still, I have no where near these kind of grades in PCGS plastic, it would take pretty deep pockets to amass such a registry.

The cost of that set, must be rather significant.

The 58-D picture sure is juiced. Nice set! If I had a set like that I would get one of the forum expert photographers to get some nicer pictures so everyone could enjoy it better. image
  • Some of the toners are nice but there are some real dogs in there too (53-s,52-d). Also how many of those would slab today?image
